Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was one of the big surprises of 2014, a game on the Lord of the Rings license that didn’t suck, and also managed to enthrall the player with a vision of Middle Earth uniquely suited to video games. It has been almost two years since it launched, though, and in this industry, no successful product usually goes that long without a follow-up.
And a follow-up is exactly what we might be getting. NerdLeaks reports that the sequel to the original game may be announced soon- as early as E3 this year. On famous stunt Lauren Mary Kim‘s credits page, they found listed among her work Shadow of Mordor 2, indicating that the game is in development, and that Kim worked on it. Kim has worked on numerous video games before, including Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Warner Bros.’ own Batman: Arkham Knight, so that part of the story checks out.
Apparently, she worked on stunts and acting for the game with Blur, which is one of the most prestigious CGI firms in the business- which implies either that Shadow of Mordor has a lot of CG, or that, equally likely, it will be getting a lot of CG trailers.
Whatever it is, we can probably expect an announcement soon- maybe even at E3 this year.
