Skull and Bones Insider Program Announced

The Insider Program will allow a small number of players to access an early version of the game and provide feedback to developers.

Ubisoft Singapore’s Skull and Bones, the long-delayed action adventure title, now has an Insider Program. According to this post, the initiative selects players to play an early version of the game “in real conditions before anyone else.” The objective is to obtain data and feedback from real players “when they’re free to play our game whenever they want, however they want.”

Details on how players feel about the game is also important. There will also be for Insider Program members to “share about their experience, discuss with each other and get information straight from our development team.” Of course, there will only be a small number of participants. “It’s important for us to ensure we do things carefully, and set things up in a way that allows us to fully understand the feedback we receive.”

Those who wish to apply will require patience and commitment along with enough time for testing and reporting issues and providing feedback. One also has to stick to a Non Disclosure Agreement along with abiding by Ubisoft’s Code of Conduct. For more details, sign up here.

Skull and Bones doesn’t currently have a release date but Ubisoft feels it will be out by April 2023 (while stating that it’s “very happy” with the artistic direction and progress thus far). Various reports have emerged about its troubled development, from key staff members leaving to reboots and accusations of racism and sexism (which led to managing director Hugues Ricour being removed). The title had been described as “too big to fail” with reports claiming costs to have exceeded $120 million. We’ll see how things pan out in the coming months so stay tuned.
