While the Sonic franchise took something of a break last year, 2022 is promising big shake up for the series with an as of now unnamed new entry that will take the iconic hedgehog into the future. For now, though, it’s time to revisit the past with a new remaster, Sonic Colors Ultimate. The game revisits the 2010 game (specifically, the Wii version of that title), and Sega has been showing off bits and pieces of it leading up to the release later this year. Now we get a breakdown of what improvements are here.
The new trailer, which you can see in full below, is entitled HD Updates Spotlight. There we see Ultimate side by side with the original release to give an idea of how big a jump this is. It also lists the various improvements, such as 4K resolution and 60 FPS (it is unclear what they are aiming for with the Switch version), a new mode where you race Metal Sonic for rewards, items you can buy to customize Sonic, and a remixed soundtrack.
Sonic Colors Ultimate will release on September 17th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
