A little over two weeks before Sonic Frontiers launches, director Morio Kishimoto tweeted about the completion of development. Kishimoto noted (translation via DeepL), “We have not been able to provide all of your feedback,” but that “we did everything we could until just before the deadline.”
While noting a “sense of relief,” Kishimoto also felt a “bit sad. After all, we have known each other for five years.” This is about Sonic Frontiers being in development for that period. He then indicated it was “time to start the next job!”
Sega has yet to declare Sonic Frontiers to be officially gold, so we’ll need to wait for an update. As such, one can expect a day one patch for the open-world title and other updates afterwards to improve performance and fix bugs.
In terms of new content, Monster Hunter collaboration DLC is already confirmed to go live on November 15th. It includes Rathalos Armor and Felyne Rathalos Armor for Sonic, and a BBQ Spit mini-game which can power him up. Other free DLC may be due in the coming months, so stay tuned.
Sonic Frontiers releases on November 8th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
