Sonic Heroes Remake in the Works for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 – Rumor

The remake of the 2004 platformer is allegedly developed on Unreal Engine, with leaker Midori corroborating its existence.

If Sonic Colors: Ultimate and the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations weren’t enough, Sega is allegedly working on remake of Sonic Heroes. Nintendo Universe reported that it’s developed on Unreal Engine for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and the rumored Nintendo Switch 2.

The publication says a 2025 launch is likely, which would be in line with the arrival of Nintendo’s next console. Leaker Midori corroborated the remake’s existence on Twitter. Unfortunately, they also revealed that no remakes for the Sonic Adventure series are in the works.

Sonic Heroes launched for the PS2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and PC in 2004. Unlike previous entries, it saw players controlling teams of characters, like Team Sonic with Sonic, Knuckles and Tails or Team Shadow with Shadow, Rouge and E-123 Omega. Each team possessed Speed, Flight and Power characteristics for surpassing different obstacles in levels.

Though it received a mixed to average critical reception, Sonic Heroes sold about 3.41 million units by March 2007. If a remake is in the works, there may not be an announcement till next year. Stay tuned in the meantime.
