Star Wars Battlefront 2 is Free With PlayStation Plus in June

The shooter joins Call of Duty: WW2 as part of next month's offerings.

After announcing that Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WW2 would be free with PlayStation Plus in June, Sony has confirmed the second free game. It’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 from EA and DICE which recently wrapped up support for its multiplayer. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download both titles for free from June 6th.

Having launched November 2017, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is easily EA’s most controversial game till date. It received wide-spread criticism for its implementation of loot boxes and microtransactions, which prompted the company to backpedal heavily. The current cosmetic system was more positively received, eschewing random drops for direct purchases.

Since then, the title has received solid support, overcoming “initial missteps” to become “really strong game” as per EA. The final update, which added The Battle of Scarif, recently launched for all platforms so there should still be a strong playerbase for PlayStation Plus users. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months on DICE’s next project (especially since Battlefield 6 is already earmarked to release in 2021).
