Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin Won’t Support Cross-Platform Play

Xbox, PC and PlayStation players won't be able to play together in Team Ninja's action RPG when it releases on March 18th.

Absurdity of its premise aside, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is definitely one of the more intriguing titles that Square Enix has published. Developed by Team Ninja and incorporating action RPG elements akin to the Nioh franchise, it sees Jack Garland and friends attempting to save the world. Along with solo play, it also supports co-op for up to three players.

Unfortunately, those expecting cross-platform play will be disappointed. Speaking to WCCF Tech, the development team confirmed that, “Within the same family of consoles, crossplay is possible, but it’s not possible to perform crossplay between different families of consoles.” This also extends to PC players who can only play with each other. Furthermore, it seems there are no plans to implement crossplay support later.

A new demo recently released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 with progress transferring over to the full game. However, the developer confirmed that there are no plans to bring this demo to PC. Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is out on March 18th – pre-purchasing on consoles grants early access on March 15th while PC players gain access on March 17th. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
