Those dinosaurs look real nasty, and we can’t wait to pit our meagre skills against them when this one drops sometime next year.

You might be forgiven if you’ve forgotten about Annapurna and Great Ape’s The Lost Wild after its announcement nearly four years ago. You’d also be forgiven for thinking this was a very intense take on Jurassic Park.

It’s a nay on the latter, but the good news is that the game’s now making its way to the PS5, with a new trailer showcased at the recent State of Play.

And what a trailer it is. It begins as any encounter with dinosaurs left to run free in their natural habitat would, with one attacking potential protagonists, crashing into their car as they take a leisurely ride through a beautifully rendered forest. Well, what follows is a showcase of a gameplay loop in which you’re the prey and need to keep your wits about you as you navigate the world. This is a game about patience, restraint, and carefully considered actions, all of which you’re going to need if you don’t want to end up as a dinosaur’s next meal.

The developers are touting this one as a subversion of modern gaming’s tried and tested power fantasy, and we’re more than inclined to agree. You’d probably feel the same way after you watch the new trailer.

Silent Hill: Townfall Rated by ESRB as State of Play Looms

A release date for Screen Burn's first-person survival horror, unsurprisingly rated "M" for Mature 17+, could be revealed later today.

With PlayStation’s State of Play returning later today at 2 PM PST, there are already plenty of rumors about what to expect. Add one more to the pile because Screen Burn Interactive’s Silent Hill: Townfall has been rated by the ESRB.

Rated “M” for Mature 17+ due to violence, blood and strong language, the listing indicates what we already know – that players will navigate St. Amelia, a Scottish island that’s fallen under the pall of the series’ signature fog. There are puzzles to solve and monsters to avoid, though you’ll also have guns and melee weapons like axes to defend yourself.

Some of the violence isn’t anything too gruesome, between stabbing and blood spatters, but there’s also an instance of a “man being eaten by a monster.” So prepare yourself accordingly.

Of course, the real significance of this rating, especially so close to State of Play, is that it could mean a potential release date announcement. Silent Hill: Townfall was already confirmed for 2026 on PS5 and PC, so it looks like the perfect opportunity to drop the release. The only question that remains is where it could fit, especially with how crowded every month before November is going to become.

Whatever happens, we’re keen to jump in, especially since it’s the first full-length first-person title in the series and among the biggest games ever published by Annapurna. To learn more about the combat, head here.

Don’t hesitate to give this one a shot if you’re in the market for a great story backed up by some brilliant music and a fairly simple gameplay loop.

Every so often, entertainment transcends its role as a distraction from your dreary life, and takes you to places that you’re loath to leave. Mixtape is a great example of that sentiment, and while The Suck might not be a place that many of us might find liveable, it isn’t where the game takes you. Instead, you’re taken back to memories of your own time as a teenager, and all of the bonds you’ve built along the way.

Stacey Rockford’s love for music and her friendship with Slater and Cassandra work as a narrative vehicle that moves as fast as the trio’s skateboards, or a very memorable shopping cart that I’m not going to talk more about in the interest of avoiding spoilers. You explore their memories of their time in high school, while the underlying melancholy of life taking you in a direction that’s different from your loved ones is a constant undercurrent that gives the narrative the emotional heft it needs to land just right.

You see, Stacey aims to make her passion for music into a career as a music supervisor. But to do that, she’s got to leave her life and her friends behind and move to New York to work with one of the biggest names in the industry. Her bags are packed, and she’s ready to go (if you’ve caught on to the reference, you’re sure to like Mixtape). But that’s not before she has one last evening of togetherness with the people she’s shared her life with over the years.

Stacey’s musical tastes are spot on, especially if you’re a fan of rock music throughout the ages. The story is told via a mixtape that she’s made to celebrate her life so far, and the one she’s moving towards. As such, every song you hear is carefully curated, matching the setting and tone of each scene from the game’s story in a way that brings it all together so well you might catch yourself humming your favorites long after you’ve completed the relatively short story.

When you consider Stacey’s current situation and how music has shaped her life and her memories, Mixtape goes beyond a mere coming-of-age story to become an exploration of nostalgia and friendships. Each memory, triggered by interacting with an object that holds significance to either Stacey or one of her friends, comes with a song that’s matched to the occasion, while you interact with members of the trio in interesting ways.

"Mixtape entertains by being so relatable that you almost feel like you’re a part of the trio and have known them for years."

The opening sequence, for instance, has them barrelling down the slope of a mountain on their skateboards, navigating sharp turns whilst avoiding oncoming traffic. You control Stacey in this part, pressing buttons to perform flips and other stunts while your thumbsticks ensure that she doesn’t crash and burn before her adventure begins. Of course, the consequences for a mistake are almost non-existent, and this one is quite light on the challenge that it offers.

Instead, Mixtape entertains by being so relatable that you almost feel like you’re a part of the trio and have known them for years. It’s rare to find fictional characters that are as instantly relatable, but Stacey and Co. are so well-written, I couldn’t help but think of my own best friends from when I was a teenager. Indeed, it’s all presented so well that I even picked up my phone and had a chat with my own buddies from back in the day.

The dialogues and the manner in which they reflect how teenagers communicate with each other make their friendship feel natural and organic. We’ve all been there, and we know how we often looked at the world with the same youthful arrogance that they display. The rules are only guidelines in their eyes, and they take risks that would have us adults thinking long and hard about our next steps.

"Cassandra’s story is one that I’ve seen way too many times in my years, and it’s one that could have you appreciating your own upbringing a little more."

I’m no fan of certain darker subjects, but Mixtape is clever enough to handle that part of its story with tact, taking a neutral approach to its framing that immediately makes it click. You know what Stacey is doing isn’t exactly right, but the game never tries to preach to you. Mixtape simply presents a problem that exists whether we like it or not, and manages to avoid the darker side of things with aplomb.

That doesn’t mean that it’s all light-hearted and carefree. Cassandra’s story is one that I’ve seen way too many times in my years, and it’s one that could have you appreciating your own upbringing a little more. She’s easily my favorite of the lot, my sympathy for her lost childhood mixing well with respect for her quiet dignity. Stacey is similarly layered, capable of a level of empathy that makes her likeable while having her own flaws to balance things out.

Let’s take stock of where we’re at so far. You’ve got a great story, simple gameplay elements, and a cast of characters who you relate to as soon as you meet them. All of that’s evidence of a video game that does what it sets out to do.

But there are flaws. The animations are a little wonky from time to time, although I must admit the game’s unique art style and presentation were able to smooth things over enough for the experience to do well on the whole. I must point out that the gameplay isn’t anything especially taxing, and you’re going to be spending time sifting through old objects or perhaps trying to craft something that you probably wouldn’t want to use in the real world.

"Mixtape is almost like a short movie, one that you might find yourself putting on from time to time when you have nothing else to watch."

Mixtape is still a fun game, though by no means a challenging one. Its beauty lies in the way the entire experience comes together, and the way each scene is underscored by an intriguing vibe that brings it all to life. I found myself annoyed with Slater when the cassette player in his car interrupted an enjoyable session, a situation that made me think about how Mixtape expertly invokes specific emotions that ground you in what you’re experiencing in a way that’s truly special.

Mixtape is almost like a short movie, one that you might find yourself putting on from time to time when you have nothing else to watch. It’s familiar enough to make you invested in the lives of its characters, while also being fresh enough to stand out from the crowd. But remember, there isn’t much gameplay on offer here, but as a fellow Zeppelin fan, I came to appreciate most of what the game has to offer.

The trailer is a short one, giving us a glimpse at some of the more psychedelic adventure that the trio of protagonists can experience.

Beethoven and Dinosaur, alongside publisher Annapurna Interactive, has announced that its upcoming title Mixtape will be coming to PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on May 7th. The announcement was made with a new trailer which you can check out below.

The trailer comes in at just shy of a minute in length, and focuses on the main characters—three high school friends looking for the “ultimate teenage experience”. We get to see the trio go through several surreal experiences, be it flying over their neighborhoods and over creeks, or skateboarding through an exploding car.

The story of Mixtape will revolve around the three friends setting off on one final adventure together, with its core themes revolving around a variety of songs that have been described as “the soundtrack of a generation”. The narrative will focus on how each song culminates in dreamlike reenactments of the time they spent together.

Mixtape was announced all the way back in June 2024, with Beethoven and Dinosaur confirming that its soundtrack would include music by Iggy Pop, Joy Division, The Smashing Pumpkins, DEVO, Roxy Magic, Lush, Sioxsie and the Banshees, and the Cure, among others.

The first trailer for Mixtape gave us a good look at the kind of setting we will get to experience, with portable CD players, open downhill streets that players can skate down, and a general vibe of whimsy that is often associated with teenage life. Paired with other, more realistic activities, the trailer also showed off how the kids are able to partake in more outlandish ones, like floating in the air above one of their roofs, and creating fireworks just by pointing at the sky while driving over a bridge.

The title was originally announced for release in 2025. However, it would get pushed back to a 2026 window. The studio hasn’t revealed too many details about the game yet, likely in its efforts to preserve the sense of surprise when it finally comes out.

The previous game by the studio, The Artful Escape, was released all the way back in 2021. The title, available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, revolves around Francis Vendetti and his struggles on the night of his first live performance. Since he has to contend with the legacy of his uncle – a dead folk legend – Francis sets off on a psychedelic journey to create an entirely new stage persona for himself.

Alongside gameplay that can often have players engage with a variety of gameplay genres, the storytelling is helped by the fact that it features voice performances by Michael Johnston, Caroline Kinley, Lena Headey, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Strong, and Carl Weathers.

In our review of The Artful Escape from back when it first came out, we gave it a score of 8 out of 10 thanks to its striking art style, strong writing, excellent voice and musical performance, and great gameplay. However, we criticized some of the game’s performance issues, as well as how basic the platforming sections would often feel.

A new Silent Hill is out this year, focusing on Simon Ordell, who explores the dreaded town of St. Amelia to set things right.

We finally got our first look at Silent Hill: Townfall, with a reveal trailer dropping during State of Play that showcases the town of St. Amelia while hinting at a very dark story for its new protagonist, Simon Ordell.

We begin with Simon pondering the mistakes that led him to his current predicament before diving into a showcase of the game’s excellent visuals and combat that seems as nerve-wracking as you’d expect from a Silent Hill title. Among the most interesting new additions is the CRTV, a pocket television that’s going to be integral to your journey through St. Amelia according to Jon McKellan, the game’s writer and director.

“Drawing on our previous experience designing interactive ‘retro’ user interfaces and VHS-style aesthetics, we wanted to take the handheld radio – an iconic tool of the Silent Hill series – and evolve it in our own way. The result of that evolution is the ‘CRTV’ – a lovingly crafted device that uses real retro technology and innovative techniques to produce the gritty, authentic audio and video used throughout the game.”

Aside from the CRTV, McKellan commented on the game’s shift to the first-person POV, showcasing how it blends well with the new device at our disposal. It’s going to be mighty helpful in tracking your objectives and keeping tabs on threats around you. If you’re spotted, you get to use both melee and ranged weapons to take them on, or perhaps choose to be stealthy and attempt to avoid conflict altogether. That might be a wise choice given how terrifying the enemies in the trailer were, and we believe things are going to get a whole lot worse.

McKellan also highlighted the game’s DualSense integration, promising that the controller’s advanced haptics will play a major role in keeping you as immersed in the experience as possible. Silent Hill: Townfall releases later this year as a PS5 exclusive. You can check out the reveal trailer below.

The years-long wait for updates on the horror title from Annapurna and Screen Burn Interactive has finally come to an end.

Konami will reveal the latest details on Silent Hill: Townfall on February 12th, and surprisingly, it’s not at PlayStation’s next State of Play. Airing at 4 PM PT, it all unfolds in a brand new Silent Hill Transmission broadcast, which also includes the “latest updates” on the series.

However, Townfall is the main attraction, and rightfully so. Announced back in October 2022, it’s developed by Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and published by Annapurna Interactive. Like Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 remake, it uses Unreal Engine 5.

That’s pretty much all we know at this point. Aside from rumors that it’s allegedly part of an anthology series with other indie developers working on follow-ups, there’s been no word on the gameplay or plot. Based on Screen Burn’s experience, you can probably expect an unorthodox narrative-focused adventure, but that doesn’t exactly narrow things down.

Konami somewhat corroborated those anthology rumors when it announced plans to develop Silent Hill: Townfall as a series going forward. It even reaffirmed that its the next new title for the franchise. A now-pulled retailer listing indicated a March 26th launch date, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to see if that’s legitimate. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.

More than three years after its announcement and with no further details, Annapurna Interactive's title remains a mystery.

When Konami announced several major Silent Hill projects back in 2022, who would have thought that Silent Hill: Townfall would go the longest without any information? Interestingly, the publisher provided a slight update in its fiscal results for the nine months ending on December 31st, 2025, but it’s not what you think.

“As a continuation of our ongoing efforts, we are currently developing a brand-new title in the Silent Hill series, as well as a remake of the first installment, Silent Hill.”

At first glance, you would think this means a new, unannounced Silent Hill is in the works. However, when asked by Gematsu, Konami confirmed that it’s actually referring to Silent Hill: Townfall. Which is good news – the project is far from dead, but it doesn’t bring us any closer to a release date. Even that recently pulled retailer listing is looking more and more like a mistake.

Developed by Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code of Stories Untold fame) and published by Annapurna Interactive, little is known about Townfall. It’s developed on Unreal Engine 5, much like Silent Hill 2 remake, and is allegedly part of an anthology series with other indie developers seemingly working on follow-ups.

Maybe Konami is waiting for more progress on those releases as part of a greater marketing strategy for Townfall. Or maybe it has an announcement ready for this year, and we need to wait. Rest assured that it’s still coming, but whether it’s this year or the next remains to be seen.

"We aim to release about one title per year, including both announced and unannounced titles," said Konami's Motoi Okamoto.

With 2024’s Silent Hill 2 remake along with 2025’s Silent Hill f, Konami has been on quite the spree when it comes to new, high-quality releases in the seminal horror franchise. Now that the series has gained traction, producer Motoi Okamoto has said that Konami wants to release a new Silent Hill game every year. Speaking to Famitsu, Okamoto referred to annual releases as being a major goal for the publisher moving forward.

While he didn’t go into too many details about what we can expect going forward, Okamoto noted that Konami wants to release a new game—both announced and unannounced—every year.

“Following the release of Silent Hill 2 in October 2024, we were able to deliver Silent Hill f in September 2025, and the Silent Hill series is now back on track,” said Okamoto (via Google Translate). “We aim to release about one title per year, including both announced and unannounced titles. We’re not sure how far we can achieve this, but we’ll do our best as the producer of the Silent Hill series. Ideally, we’d like to keep the buzz around Silent Hill constant.”

Konami kickstarted this just a few years ago when it announced three new titles in the series—Silent Hill 2’s remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall. While the first two launched to wide critical acclaim, the third has received little by way of marketing so far. However, a recent leak had indicated that Silent Hill: Townfall will be coming out on March 26, 2026, which would further fall in line with Konami’s plans for a new Silent Hill game every year.

Back in October, Okamoto had noted that the three titles were announced at around the same time in 2022, so that Konami could affirm its commitment to bringing the classic horror franchise back. He said that the company wanted fans to “feel how serious we were about reviving the series.”

“Three years ago, in 2022, we announced three titles: Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall,” wrote Okamoto. “We didn’t want to just announce a single remake to ‘test the waters.’ We wanted people to feel how serious we were about reviving the series. Developing a remake and a new title simultaneously naturally involves risks, but we wanted to convey our commitment first and foremost.”

With Silent Hill: Townfall‘s rumoured release happening in just a few months, the future of the series is also being further expanded with developer Bloober Team once again taking on its past, this time around with a remake of the original Silent Hill. The studio, having previously worked on the Silent Hill 2 remake, confirmed that development on a remake of the original had begun all the way back in October.

In the meantime, check out our review of Silent Hill f. The title is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The statement follows rumors surrounding the Screen Burn-developed title serving as the first part in a horror anthology.

Konami is on a roll lately with the Silent Hill franchise, having delivered not one but two major hits – Silent Hill 2 remake with Bloober Team and NeoBard’s Silent Hill f. In its Fiscal 2026 Konami Group Interim Report, it reaffirmed its goal to “continue working to deliver titles” in the franchise that will be “loved by our fans around the world.”

That includes Silent Hill 1 remake, with Bloober Team once again at the helm, but it made an interesting note about Silent Hill: Townfall. Developed by Screen Burn and Annapurna Interactive, it has had no updates since the initial announcement in October 2022. However, Konami noted that it has “plans to develop this series further going forward.”

It potentially feeds into rumors that it’s the first part of an anthology, with other indie developers working on further titles. Neither Konami nor Annapurna has confirmed this, but this latest tidbit would certainly fit the approach to a T.

Silent Hill: Townfall doesn’t have any platforms, but it’s allegedly launching on March 26th, 2026, according to a recently leaked retail listing.

Liverpool Mexico may have accidentally revealed the horror title's release date, perhaps before an imminent announcement.

Whether you’re a fan of Konami’s psychological horror series, you have to admit that Silent Hill has never felt more back than in the previous year. Silent Hill 2 remake and its over 2.5 million shipments and digital downloads; Silent Hill f selling over one million at a faster rate; Silent Hill 1 remake in development – and it seems that 2026 will kick off with another new entry.

Retailer site Liverpool Mexico listed Screen Burn’s Silent Hill: Townfall for March 26th, 2026. The number of retail-related leaks from the site isn’t extensive, but the fact that the listing has since been pulled lends some credence. There’s also the fact that Xbox is hosting a new Partner Preview event on November 20th, where Silent Hill 2 remake could be announced for Xbox Series X/S (and allegedly launch the next day).

Is it too far-fetched to assume that Konami and Annapurna Interactive could drop a new trailer for Townfall? Even if it wasn’t at the Partner Preview (hello, The Game Awards), given that it’s been over three years since its announcement, you have to admit that new details are overdue.
