If you like playing games that go on for days on end, we've got a list of ones that could make the many hours you spend on them worth it. There's something for everyone here, so don't be shy!

If the holidays have left you with some time on your hands, and you’ve got the itch to dive into a game that can see you safely into the new year, you’re going to like this one. As we close the curtains on another great year of video games, we’ve thought about a few that could easily draw you into the experience and keep you there for a while.

Many of these games are so addictive and well-designed, you’re probably going to be thinking about them when you’re not playing them. Let’s get started!

1. Where Winds Meet

This wuxia-based RPG is simply unmatched when it comes to the number of activities it offers you, the quality of each one, and the variety you can find. It’s an open world where exploration without having a specific destination in mind is the best possible way to experience it, with a lot of great side content baked into the game aside from a compelling main campaign.

With online multiplayer and MMO elements integrated into the gameplay loop, and combat and gear systems that are great for creating unique PvP characters, there’s just so much to do in this game, and so much more to come with subsequent updates, that hitting triple figures on your playtime is almost an inevitability.

2. EA Sports FC 26

The football simulator that’s been around forever continues to be a viable option for a game that has you coming back to it every chance you get, for a very long time after you first boot it up. With a very detailed Career mode, regular online events, the option to pit your team against your friend, or perhaps have a buddy join your team instead, there’s a lot to experience.

The gameplay on offer is also quite solid, with a lot of realism baked into the experience to make you feel like you’re on the pitch and not staring at it through a screen. However, its systems and some of its challenges are going to require that you literally put your best foot forward on the pitch. If you decide to dive into this one, the game is on and is going to stay that way for a while.

3. Fortnite

Once again, there’s so much to do in Fortnite, which is more of a platform than a game at this point. With so many modes on offer, regular content being added into the game, social features that make it a blast when it’s enjoyed in company, and a PvP Battle Royale mode that has become quite popular in its own right, this one’s definitely a game where 200 hours might go by before you even notice.

Dive in and you’re going to find a lot of freedom for self-expression, and a lot of fun to be had on the islands. Just be careful not to put too much of a strain on your wallet, as those outfits and goodies can be very tempting indeed.

4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim + Expansions

Step into the shoes of the Dragonborn and begin your journey into Skyrim, and you’re probably not going to look at another video game until you’ve explored every corner of its sprawling map. Anything can happen along the road to your next point of interest, and with some of the finest RPG mechanics to grace the genre, you’re going to spend a lot of time tinkering with your build.

This is an RPG that has more than earned its popularity and ranks high among modern gaming’s finest for a reason. It’s also smart to dive in now and perhaps brush up on the story ahead of the sequel that’s eventually coming our way. The expansions are worth a mention, and can add a significant amount of hours to your total playtime. Every second of them is going to be worth it, though.

5. GTA Online

A thriving community of players, a massive map to explore in San Andreas, and interesting activities to engage with. GTA Online was kind of a no-brainer for this list. With heists to plan and execute, quests to carry out for some of the main story’s characters, and a reputation to build for your silent protagonist, this one’s going to have you avoiding plans and spending your weekends indoors for a while.

It’s GTA at its finest, and if the delay to GTA VI has had you feeling down, perhaps this one can act as a suitable placebo until the real thing gets here.

6. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt + Story Expansions

Geralt’s search for Ciri, and all the shenanigans he can get up to in the process, continues to be among the best open-world games we’ve played despite it being a decade old at this point. CDPR’s ability to hide a frankly overwhelming amount of secrets across three vast maps, and a whole lot of quality side content to distract the Witcher from looking for his adoptive daughter, is nothing short of a marvel.

The story expansions are a whole other ball game, bringing some very satisfying arcs full of possibilities to change the narrative’s direction, along with excellent new monsters to hunt and more secrets and lore to uncover. You might not be able to get enough of this one, if we’re being honest.

7. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The first open-world Metal Gear Solid is a great option for those of you who like a game that takes a while to outstay its welcome. Big Boss’s adventures continue in a main campaign that works very well as a bridge between previous entries, while side ops, Metal Gear Online, and the Forward Operating Base systems are all reasons for this one to have you enjoying many entertaining hours of espionage and skullduggery.

Indeed, a significant part of your playtime is going to be planning the best possible route to your objectives without your enemies being none the wiser to your presence. This is a hunt that takes a satisfyingly long time and is definitely worth considering.

8. Destiny 2

This award-winning online FPS title from Bungie has a staggering amount of content for you to take on in its story-based PvE mode, while your multiplayer options range from cooperative three-player missions to PvP battles. There’s a lot to take in, both in terms of the game’s lore and the amount of gear and potential build options you can find.

With a lot of content to get through, and a lot of fun to be had as you dive into all it has to offer, Destiny 2 is a dream come true if you’re an FPS player who wants a game that can take over their holidays.

9. Elden Ring + Shadow of the Erdtree

FromSoftware’s ambitious open-world and the Tarnished’s incredible journey is nothing short of a masterpiece. The Lands Between are full of places to explore, mysteries to uncover, NPCs with haunting stories, and a lot of weapons, armor, gear, and loot to plunder as you try to become Queen Marika’s consort and impose your will on the world.

It’s easy to forget about all that as you ride your horse through the Lands Between, and that feeling only intensifies when you finally make your way to the Land of Shadow in the game’s DLC. Tracing the steps of Miquella is an adventure worth taking on, and coupled with the base game, this one’s a behemoth.

10. Monster Hunter: World + Expansions

Taking on the role of a representative of the Research Commission and exploring every region and zone of the New World was a fun and engaging experience from start to finish. There are so many monsters to hunt, so much to discover, and a whole lot of activities to engage in at your camp and the main base.

Quests flow from one to another almost as smoothly as the water in some parts of the New World, and you’re going to be helping your fellow companions and NPCs while having tons of fun along the way. It helps that this is a game that’s both charming in its writing and enchanting on the visual front. You can’t go wrong with this one, and it’s going to have you getting very creative in your approach to each distinct monster you’re tasked with bringing down.

11. Dragon’s Dogma 2

This sequel was an excellent new addition to Dragon’s Dogma. It was a pleasure to step into the shoes of the Arisen once again, and each of the playable classes brought something interesting to the table. But it’s when you begin to dive deeper into the world’s mysteries and begin to discover more about it that this one’s true depth shows itself.

You’re going to want to place your teleporting stones quite carefully, as the rest of the world actually has you travelling across it, navigating set pathways via a travel system, while the world’s unpredictability can make those trips quite treacherous indeed. This is an experience that is both memorable and filled with so much content and so little hand-holding that you’re going to be obsessed with discovering more about the world and the people you meet within it.

12. Red Dead Redemption 2

Arthur Morgan is an obvious contender for a place on this list of massive games, and his adventures are so extensive that it can be hard to believe one man lived through them all. From kicking back with mini-games to exploring some truly bizarre stories that can come to you in multiple ways, this is a game that can have you walking and talking like a cowboy from the Wild West every chance you get.

It’s among the finest games in modern gaming, and its world is so full of clever little details to discover that hopping on your horse for a new day of exploring is going to take precedence over your leisure time for a very entertaining and lengthy block of time.

13. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla + Expansions

As the largest one in the franchise, Valhalla’s unique take on living your life as a noble Viking and uncovering the conspiracy across England, is a world worth getting lost in.

The game’s expansions do more to set up a lot of things, while coming with some brilliant new adventures for Eivor to pursue, complete with members of shadowy organizations to hunt down. It’s quite a tale, and a very large one full of fun things to do. Switching the cinematic camera on during a boat ride could have you spending more hours on this one than you’d like to admit.

14. No Man’s Sky

As one of modern gaming’s greatest comeback stories, this is a game that stands in its own class in terms of its shelf life. It’s an almost endless adventure, its narrative justifying multiple playthroughs in a way that makes total sense, while the completely random worlds that you get to explore and engage with are quite hard to leave once you start with them.

No Man’s Sky is a story about enjoying the journey, while also waiting eagerly to see what you’re going to find at its destination. It’s going to have you pushing past your bedtime with a smile on your face, and a sense of wonder compelling you to move forward and see just what you’re about to find.

15. Baldur’s Gate 3

With a stellar cast of actors bringing several NPCs to life, and an expertly narrated Dungeons and Dragons-based tale to have their settings intertwine with yours, Larian Studio’s banger continues to be a game that you can keep replaying, with astounding build variety and stories that never truly take place the same way when you play them.

There’s the Honour Mode, cross-platform modding support, co-op and online multiplayer, and a very dark take on the story to play through. Faerun is a great holiday destination, although the things you might find there can stay in the darkest corners of your mind rent-free.

16. Stardew Valley

We weren’t going to leave out one of the ultimate farming simulations from this one. Stardew Valley belongs here, with a playtime that doesn’t really end. You’re going to keep coming back to the farm that you grew from scratch, a town gradually building out of the effort you sink into, and the relationships with its many NPCs you build along the way.

No two days are the same out in this valley, and bringing in the online component is a great way to make this one as immersive as it can be, thanks to a thriving community of die-hard fans. You’re going to feel very welcome in this one, and you might choose to stay with it for a very long time to come.

17. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This life sim always has a goal to reach, and things to do to get there. The Nook Miles system is its highlight, while the charming world and its uniquely retro art style make it stand out. Building out your presence in its world is an activity on its own, and you’re going to be quite obsessed with placing your buildings in a layout that’s to your liking, while getting them constructed has you constantly checking back into the game.

This is a game where you come to relax, and do that quite often, thanks to how entertaining it is to play, and how satisfying it is to stay with.

18. Gran Turismo 7

This PlayStation-exclusive racing sim is a great option for those of you who’d like to spend your time behind the wheel of a fast car on some of the world’s most iconic tracks. With PSVR2 support, incredible visuals, a very realistic translation of each car’s real-life track performance, and a lot of options to enjoy races at your disposal, you’re going to rack up a lot of miles on your ODO once you get started with this one.

The astounding visuals work very well with the game’s many systems that work well together to make your time on the track feel truly authentic, and push you to try taking those corners as well as you can. It’s time to let those engines loose and enjoy the results for hours on end.

19. Satisfactory

For a game carrying its title, this one is more than satisfactory, and can have you very immersed in building out your space base in your role as the Pioneer. Your factories are soon going to have you thinking about them while you’re away from your PC, and the potential for self-expression is almost humming with endless possibilities.

While its map is almost overwhelmingly large for most players, the ones who invest the time in hunting down as much to do as they can in this game are going to have a lot of fun building out their factories and playing their part in developing the corporation that put them there. Satisfactory is unique, visually distinct, well-executed, and simply fun to play, plain and simple.

20. Mass Effect Legendary Edition

This is the definitive way to enjoy a trilogy of legendary titles, bringing improved visuals and performance while also bringing in each title’s DLC and expansions into one title with a single character creator and the option to launch any of the three games from a unified menu.

If you’re familiar with the Mass Effect games, you already know that you’re going to be spending inordinate amounts of time with each one. You also know that their replay value is off the charts, and it can be easy to lose yourself in this trilogy’s expansive universe, where spending several hours making memories in it can become an entire holiday on its own.

That wraps up our list of the largest games you can get your hands on. We hope you have as much fun playing them as we did, and that the one you pick gives you many fond memories as you play it.

Whether through misguided updates, poor balancing, or baffling design shifts, these develoeprs made bold moves, in the wrong direction

Building a game can be an extremely tough job. There are a lot of moving parts involved in crafting a game, and for many reasons, developers sometimes make decisions that leave the final product feeling worse than its predecessor. It could be design decisions that don’t align with other aspects of a game, artistic directions that don’t gel with the fanbase, or maybe even development issues or mandates that make it seem like the pitch was, ‘Hey, let’s make it worse!’. With this feature, we will be taking a look at 15 such examples of games gone wrong.

Overwatch 2

The original Overwatch was a runaway success that garnered a sizeable player base and many awards, and many fans were understandably excited about the sequel. Overwatch 2’s announcement sparked excitement with promises of expanded PvE and a broader scope, but what we got in reality was a shooter that lost focus of what made it so special in the first place. The magic of Overwatch’s PvE was gone, and the expanded PvP options felt shallow and generic.

A gameplay mechanic from Assassin's Creed Valhalla also allegedly returns based on a supposed leak from a digital copy on PS5.

Ubisoft is on track to release Assassin’s Creed Shadows next month, but some players seemingly got their hands on the game early. A Reddit user posted an image of PS5 copies being sold and warned of potential spoilers in the coming days.

If that wasn’t enough, YouTuber The Hidden Ones reports knowing of someone who is playing through a digital version on PS5 due to the PlayStation Store mistakenly releasing a build. He also allegedly saw gameplay confirming the return of a particular mechanic from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

There are multiple spoilers in the video below, including for Valhalla’s story, so be prepared before jumping in.

The player apparently encountered Animus Anomalies, which manifested as platforming sections in Valhalla. The pop-up, “Animus systems breached. Stabilize anomalies and gain data fragments to advance your active strand,” appeared and even allegedly instructed opening the Animus with the touchpad.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, but it wouldn’t be the first time a major Ubisoft title leaked before launch. However, if true, Assassin’s Creed Shadows may be the most egregious since it’s out in almost a month.

Stay tuned for more details and updates before its release on March 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Reviews allegedly go live on March 18th.

Here's how Shadows is changing things up from the last mainline Assassin's Creed game.

As much as the Assassin’s Creed franchise likes to stick to certain formulae, it’s also undeniable that each new game brings plenty new to the table. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is due out soon, coming close to five years after the series’ last mainline entry in Valhalla (though we did get the smaller Mirage in 2023 as well), and it looks like Shadows will be changing things up in a number of ways. Though meant to be an evolution of the action RPG formula that has brought us Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, Shadows is shaking up those three titles’ familiar framework in ways both big and small. Here, we’re going to go over the most significant of those changes.

SETTING

We’ll kick things off with something obvious. With a new Assassin’s Creed always comes a brand-new setting, and Shadows is taking us to a place that fans of the series have long been hoping to visit. Where Valhalla was set in 9th century Norway and England, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will transport players to 16th century Japan, in the twilight of the Sengoku period. Demand for an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan has been sky-high for as long as anyone can remember (a fact that Ghost of Tsushima shrewdly capitalized on in 2020), so it’s exciting to see it finally happening.

PROTAGONISTS

New Assassin’s Creed entries also bring new protagonists (unless you’re Ezio, that is). In Valhalla, Eivor took the spotlight with male and female options available, but in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we’re going back to two protagonists, similar to Odyssey and Syndicate. But where Odyssey allowed you to play as only one of Kassandra or Alexios, Shadows will feature both – samurai Yasuke and shinobi Naoe – as co-leads of the story. Meanwhile, unlike Syndicate, where character switching was only available during free roam, Shadows will let you play most of its quests as whichever character you please- though each will also have some exclusive missions.

PRESENT-DAY STORY

The long-running and notoriously convoluted present-day storyline has long been one of Assassin’s Creed’s most divisive elements, but no, it’s not going away anytime soon, as much as some may want that. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla wrapped up the Layla Hassan arc that kicked off in Origins and continued in Odyssey, and Shadows will mark the beginning of another new present-day arc. Details on it are somewhat sparse, but franchise boss Marc-Alexis Coté has said the new modern-day storyline will “explore deeper themes of memory, identity and autonomy, how the past shapes who we are, and how controlling this past can impact our future.”

COMBAT CHANGES

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was the culmination of the series’ action RPG formula as far as its action-driven combat tendencies were concerned. Shadows, however, is pulling in a different direction, with renewed focus in areas such as parkour and stealth (more on both in a bit). Of course, those who want a combat-focused approach will get just that when playing as Yasuke, who’s slower in his movements but an absolute bruiser in one-on-one combat. Naoe, on the other hand, will be much more agile, but much more vulnerable to damage, what with her specialties lying in stealth.

NEW WEAPONS

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla boasted a strong variety of weapons for players to find and master, and just as it did, so too will Shadows bring an entirely new roster of tools based on its new setting. Expect to see katanas, tanto blades, war clubs, naginata spears, shurikens, kasurigama, kunai, ranged weapons like arquebuses, and more. As the assassin and stealth-expert, Naoe will also have access to the iconic hidden blade, as well as a grappling hook.

STEALTH

Stealth is what Assassin’s Creed built its name on first and foremost back in the day, and Shadows is promising a return to those roots (just as 2023’s Mirage did). Stealth was, of course, barely even a tertiary priority in Valhalla, but you can expect it to play a much more significant role in its upcoming follow-up. Naoe in particular will have access to moves and tools meant specifically for that role, from being able to go prone or crawl or squeeze through gaps to throwing smoke bombs or bells and even hiding underwater while using bamboo pipes to breathe.

LIGHT AND SHADOW MECHANICS

Taking a page out of Splinter Cell’s book, Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ expanded emphasis on stealth will also entail new light-and-shadow gameplay mechanics. Shadows will now serve as hiding places for players, which will go hand-in-hand with a dynamic lighting system. Extinguishing light sources to create new hiding spots for yourself and stay out of enemies’ sights will be an important part of the game’s stealth loop.

EAGLE VISION

Unlike Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (and its two action RPG predecessors), which gave players winged companions that they could take control of any time, Shadows is dropping that mechanic and bringing back traditional Eagle Vision. Available only to Naoe, it will work the way you remember from previous titles (including 2023’s Mirage), with enemies, hiding spots, and other stealth-specific points of interest being highlighted. Meanwhile, both Naoe and Yasuke will also have access to an Observe mechanic, which will identify and tag points of interest such as targets, loot, quest objectives, collectibles, and more. Naoe will be able to use Observe and Eagle Vision simultaneously.

PARKOUR

Parkour is another area that’s being resharpened for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Movement and traversal mechanics were very much cut from the same cloth as Origins and Odyssey– parkour was de-emphasized compared to prior entries, and players could virtually climb every surface that existed anywhere in the map. Shadows is taking a more considered approach, according to its developers. As the more nimble of the two characters, Naoe will have access to an expanded and robust moveset (which will also include a grappling hook). On top of that, crucially, not every surface will be climbable, which means players will have to actually pay attention to things such as handholds, climbing spots, and what have you.

EXPLORATION

Where exploration is concerned, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is promising to address some of Valhalla’s biggest issues in interesting ways. Inundating players with markers and icon vomit has generally been Assassin’s Creed’s modus operandi, but Shadows is seemingly looking to deliver a more organic experience. Viewpoints will now only highlight nearby points of interest, with everything else being revealed by actual, organic exploration, or through other means (such as your spy network).

PROGRESSION

With two protagonists sharing the spotlight, Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ progression mechanics will, as you might imagine, take on a new shape. Naoe and Yasuke will have their own individual skill trees, as you may expect, given their different specialties and movesets. On top of character-specific skill trees, meanwhile, each weapon type will also have its own skill tree, which means the more you use a weapon, the better you get at using it.

SEASONS

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also tout a new seasons system, which is going to be exactly what it sounds like. As you progress through the game, you’ll experiencing changing seasons, and each will bring changes in the environment that will also impact gameplay. For instance, during winter, enemies will be able to spot your footprints in snow, and you won’t be able to stealthily swim through frozen water bodies and puddles. On the other hand, in spring, there’ll be abundant tall grass and blooming plants, which means abundant hiding spots.

BASE BUILDING

Just as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla let players expand, build up, and customize their hub village of Ravensthorpe throughout the course of its gargantuan runtime, Shadows will also feature a central hub in the Hideout that players will be able to customize and expand. In fact, this time, the game is set to feature expanded and more granular building mechanics, with a full Sims-style grid affording players even greater control over the hub.

SIZE

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was almost too big for its own good, being the 100-150 hour colossus that it was, but thankfully, its upcoming successor has taken the hint and is cutting back significantly. Its developers have made it clear that Shadows’ map is going to be roughly around the same size as Origins’ Ancient Egypt- which isn’t small by any stretch of the imagination, but is definitely way more manageable than Valhalla’s world was. Though those who wish to will be able to get over a hundred hours out of the game, Shadows’ main story is supposed to be comparable to Origins and Odyssey, which means it could be anywhere between 30-50 hours, depending on how much you engage with the optional content.

NO SEASON PASS

Assasin’s Creed has followed the Season Pass model for quite some time now, but Ubisoft announced last year after sustaining multiple back-to-back high profile failures that changing its post-launch model was one of several steps it would be taking to shake things up. Of course, like Valhalla, Shadows is expected to receive plenty of post-launch content, but Ubisoft has cancelled its Season Pass in particular. The first expansion will be free for all pre-orders, while further details on future content will be shared down the road.

Other Ubisoft titles like Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora haven't received updates to fix these issues.

After facing no small amount of criticism due to some of its games being negatively affected by Windows 11’s 24H2 update, Ubisoft has finally released updates for Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla to fix the issue.

The update, clocking in at around 230 MB, pushes Assassin’s Creed Origins up to version 1.62, while the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update weighs in at around 500 MB, and pushes the game up to version 1.7.0. They don’t add anything aside from fixing compatibility issues for the games with Windows 11 24H2.

Both titles have been facing complaints from PC players because of these compatibility issues, with players taking to Steam’s reviews section to post negative reviews. This led to review bombing, with the aggregate rating for Assassin’s Creed Origins dropping from “Very Positive” to “Mixed” as a result.

Interestingly, other Ubisoft titles affected by these issues, which include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Star Wars Outlaws, haven’t yet gotten similar updates to fix these issues. The publisher has yet to provide an ETA on the same.

Originally rolling out for Windows 11 back in November, the 24H2 update generally offered a performance upgrade for most games, depending on the user’s hardware. However, it also caused issues in some Ubisoft titles like crashes and severe performance drops.

Not every open-world game can immerse you into a virtual escapade. Here are 15 most boring games of this ilk that are best avoided.

Open-world games continue to be one of the most popular genres in gaming, but not every game is created equal. Some tend to amaze us with their designs, while others end up being boring trudges through poorly designed virtual landscapes. We will be discussing the latter as we run down 15 of the most boring open-world games of all time.

Metal Gear Survive

Metal Gear Solid 5 took the fan-beloved series to new heights with its shift to an open-world structure, but the road to release was anything but smooth. The turbulent development led to the infamous Kojima Konami breakup, putting a big question mark on the future of the franchise. Konami tried to take the game’s foundations and create another makeshift zombie open world out of it with Metal Gear Survive, but it was a spectacular failure. A barren open-world, repetitive missions, and uninteresting progression mechanics were some of the biggest issues that plague Survive’s gameplay loop – making it a really boring time.

Referring to the ads as a "technical error", Ubisoft has announced that the problem has now been fixed.

Ubisoft has released a statement regarding players reporting that Assassin’s Creed games have started displaying advertisements for Ubisoft’s Black Friday sale. The company has taken to social media platform X to release its statement, referring to the ads being shown in games as a “technical error”, echoing an earlier statement released to The Verge.

According to its latest statement, the “technical error” that resulted in players getting shown pop-up advertisements while in the middle of gameplay has now been fixed.

“Our intention was to display a promotion for Assassin’s Creed Mirage as part of the franchise news in the main menu of other Assassin’s Creed games,” said the company.

“Unfortunately, this technical error caused the promotion to appear in one of our in-game menus instead,” the statement continues. “We want to ensure the best player experience possible, and these disruptive pop-ups were promptly removed once we learned of the issue.”

Players reported ads popping up for Ubisoft’s Black Friday sale yesterday, with a player posting a video from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on Xbox, which showed that opening the map prompted a pop-up to advertise Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released back in October, and is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. For more details about the game, check out our review.

Eivor works with Basim's mentor Roshan on a new quest. It's part of Title Update 1.6.2, which also adds The Last Chapter.

The Last Chapter update is available in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla after launching a week earlier than intended. Nevertheless, all the content, from the conclusion of Eivor’s story to the ability to permanently keep your hood up, is playable.

Interestingly, this includes a brand new quest called “Shared History.” It sees Eivor teaming with Roshan from Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The latter mentored Basim, who plays a role in Valhalla. As a Master Assassin, she’s voiced by actor Shohreh Aghdashloo and fights for justice. Given how the events of Eivor’s story play out, it should be interesting to see their interaction.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still releasing on December 6th for Steam, so stay tuned for more details. Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches in 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Amazon Luna. It takes place 20 years before Valhalla with Basim as the protagonist and returns to the stealth-focused gameplay of older Assassin’s Creed titles.

Ubisoft is celebrating two years of Assassin's Creed Valhalla in a new blog post, alongside giving us some details on the game's final update.

Ubisoft has published a post on the official blog for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla celebrating the two years of content that has been released for the game, as well as detailing the final major update, which is set to hit the game on December 6 with Title Update 1.6.2.

Dubbed The Last Chapter, the final update will also act as an ending to Eivor’s story in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The update is being designed as an epilogue, and hopes to tie up some of the dangling plot threads fromm throughout the game and its various DLCs.

Once released, to access The Last Chapter, players need to have completed the main storyline by pledging to all territories of England, completed the mythical story arcs of Asgard and Jotunheim, upgraded the settlement to level 5 and construct the Jomsviking barracks, and have killed all targets for the Order of the Ancients and unveiled its leader.

Ubisoft has also revealed that it will no longer be running time-limited festival events in Ravensthorpe, owing to the game coming to the end of its life. For players that missed the festival events, all rewards from Yule, Ostara, Sigrblot, and Oskoreia will be available at all merchants once the quest The First Night of Samhain of the Glowecestrescire arc has been completed.

And finally, Ubisoft has also stated that New Game+ will not be coming to the game. Despite being a highly-requested feature, developers working on the game realised that the breadth and depth of the game meant that implementing New Game+ wasn’t possible. Another highly-anticipated feature—the ability for Eivor to have their hood on at all times—is coming to the game. This is a purely cosmetic option and doesn’t really affect gameplay in any real way.

The rest of the post largely acts as a retrospective on the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla back in 2020 and the studio reminiscing about the release of the game’s various DLCs and updates over the years.
