Tune in at 10:00 AM PT to see the future of Call of Duty.

It’s been rumoured of late that the next Call of Duty game will be getting revealed soon, while the series’ recent social media activity has also been hinting at the same. Activision have now come out and officially confirmed it. Taking to Twitter, the official Call of Duty account confirmed through a short teaser clip that the reveal will be happening tomorrow, on May 30, at 10 AM PT.

At this point, even in the absence of official confirmation, we know thanks to multiple leaks that the Infinity Ward-developed title is going to be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and is going to be a “soft reboot”. That hasn’t, as mentioned, been formally announced yet, but expect to see official confirmation of that (alongside more details) tomorrow.

Following that, we’ll also be seeing more of the game at E3 2019. It’s been confirmed that Call of Duty 2019 will be the centrepiece of an E3 Coliseum panel.

Sounds like something is about to happen.

It’s been much later than usual, but it seems as if a reveal of this year’s Call of Duty game is coming soon. There’s been murmurs about the game for quite some time, with the biggest being that it will be a “soft reboot” and will simply be subtitled Modern Warfare. Only time will tell how accurate that is- and well, time may be running short if this stunt by the various Call of Duty social media accounts means anything.

Earlier today, all of the social media accounts associated with the COD brand changed their logos to a slightly altered version of the last one, and each with a message saying they’re “going dark.” You can check out the Instagram or Twitter page to take a look. Very clearly, something is going on here.

We do have a report that an official reveal is happening May 30th, so odds are this is in anticipation for that. Whether “going dark” will have some significance to the game or if it’s just to build up hype remains to be seen. We’ll keep you updated.

The next Call of Duty title might be in line for a reveal very soon.

Today, a tweet went out that the next Call of Duty title – long rumoured to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – is simply being called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Jason Schreier of Kotaku vouched for this and said that this is being considered a “soft reboot”. Now Eurogamer is joining the fray, confirming from its own sources that the name change is legit.

Perhaps more importantly, sources told the site that an official reveal was coming on May 30th. It further added that for all intents and purposes, this is a new game. Not a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, or essentially the same game as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

If an official trailer goes live next week, it would follow the pattern of Call of Duty reveals till now. Usually, Activision releases a trailer or hosts a special event hyping up the next game, with more information following shortly at E3. This year, Activision has confirmed that it won’t have a show floor booth. Infinity Ward will be present at the E3 Coliseum event, though, to talk about the next Call of Duty. Expect a proper information blow-out there, but in the meantime, stay tuned for more potential leaks.

Looks like Infinity Ward and Activision are going back to the basics.

Infinity Ward’s 2019 Call of Duty title has long been in the rumour mill. Suggestions that it will be a new Modern Warfare installment have been made aplenty, and there’s been plenty of evidence since to back them up. As per new (unofficial) information, though Call of Duty 2019 is indeed going to be a new Modern Warfare game, it won’t be Modern Warfare 4.

No, apparently, it’s going to be called simply Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. As the name might have given away, Infinity Ward and Activision are treating the game as a reset of sorts- a soft reboot, to be more precise. Whether they’re softly rebooting Modern Warfare, or Call of Duty as a whole, remains to be seen.

The report first arose with YouTuber LongSensation mentioning the game’s name on Twitter. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier then followed up on the tweet, confirming himself that the report’s true, and that it’s going to be a soft reboot.

Call of Duty 2019 will be revealed soon, as per Activision, while the game will also be the centerpiece of an E3 Coliseum panel, so there isn’t not long left until we find out for sure one way or another.

Meanwhile, moving beyond 2019 and into the next year, it looks like Call of Duty 2020 is in a state of upheaval, with Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software reportedly having been taken off as lead developers, and the reigns having been handed back to Treyarch. Read more about that through here.

The company will still participate at E3 "across a number of activities."

The floor plans are out for E3 2019, showcasing the different exhibitors and their booths at the Los Angeles Convention Center. However, it quickly became apparent that one publisher was missing – Activision, the company known for Call of Duty. As it turns out, it won’t have a booth on the show floor this year.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, a representative for the company said, “While we won’t have a traditional space on the show floor, we look forward to participating at E3 across a number of activities.” This seems to refer to the upcoming E3 Coliseum event, where Infinity Ward is hosting a panel to talk about the next Call of Duty. However, Activision will also hold private meetings with partners, so don’t expect too much else.

Activision’s lack of a show floor booth is reflecting an interesting trend this year. Sony is skipping the show entirely with no presser. EA will also not have a stage event, but has several gameplay livestreams planned for June 8th at EA Play. At least companies like Microsoft, Bethesda, and Ubisoft will hold traditional stage events for their pressers. E3 2018 will take place from June 11th to 13th.

Infinity Ward are in line to deliver this year’s Call of Duty title, which is something we’ve been hearing more and more of lately. Activision has promised that whatever it is is going to bring “game-changing experiences” to fans of the series, while recent reports have suggested that the game’s going to be a continuation of the fan-favourite Modern Warfare series. Now, there’s more new info that also suggests that this year’s Call of Duty is indeed going to be Modern Warfare 4.

Multiple former Infinity Ward employees who were crucial to the development of the Modern Warfare titles seem to be back at the studio (via GameSpot). Zied Rieke was lead designer on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and had been at Infinity Ward for twelve years when he left in 2010- he’s been back at the studio since 2017 and is acting as gameplay director on their current project. Joe Emslie was the lead character artist at the studio for six years up until 2010, and has been the studio art director since February 2017.

Geoffrey Smith used to be a designer at the studio and made nineteen multiplayer maps for Infinity Ward between 2005 and 2010. He’s been acting as multiplayer design director since 2017. Then there’s Alex Roycewicz, who was a level designer at the studio up until 2010, and has been a senior designer since rejoining in 2018. Finally, there’s Mark Grigsby, who was lead animator on both Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, and returned as the Animation Director in June of 2017.

Of course, none of this definitively means that Infinity Ward is working on Modern Warfare 4. After Vince Zampella and Jason West left the studio after their falling out with Activision and formed Respawn Entertainment, Infinity Ward faced a mass exodus- all five of the aforementioned names, for instance, left the studio to join Respawn in 2010. Since then, Infinity Wards’ Call of Duty titles have come under a lot of fire- so it’s entirely possible that they’re just looking to bring back some of the old talent to make sure that their next game does well. It’s also possible, however, that they want people who’re familiar with the Modern Warfare games as they attempt to bring the subseries back.

One way or another, we should find out how much truth there is to all the speculation sooner rather than later. Activision have confirmed that Call of Duty 2019 will be revealed very soon, while an E3 Coliseum panel dedicated to the title has also been announced. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.

Infinity Ward will host a panel discussing the next iteration in the series.

Activision said we’d be hearing about the next Call of Duty, developed by Infinity Ward, within this quarter. Lo and behold, the official E3 Twitter has announced the first E3 2019 Coliseum event. It will feature a panel hosted by Infinity Ward as they discuss the next title in the first person shooter franchise.

It’s especially interesting, because that doesn’t rule out an announcement trailer before the conference. If Activision and Infinity Ward are truly waiting until next month, it would be the first time in years that the new Call of Duty isn’t revealed prior to E3. The best example is Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which had an extensive reveal event last year.

Plenty of rumours have been flying around about the next Call of Duty, which professional American football players were recently able to get their hands on. Along with not having a battle royale mode, it will apparently be the most ambitious title that Infinity Ward has ever made. Activision is also promising that it will deliver “game-changing experiences”. How will it do that? As usual, stay tuned for more details.

The Infinity Ward-developed shooter is looking to "maintain the breadth" of the series' large playerbase.

Infinity Ward are next in line for this year’s instalment of Activision’s Call of Duty, rumoured to be Modern Warfare 4. The developers have spoken in the past about how it’s the most ambitious game they’ve ever made, and now Activision has backed up those claims.

Speaking during their recent quarterly financial results conference (via MP1st), Activision acknowledged the need for Call of Duty 2019 to “maintain the breadth” of the massive numbers of players the series attract every year, and the developers are hard at work to that end. The publisher also confirmed that content in the title, both at launch and following launch, would bring “game-changing experiences”.

“We also recognize that we need to do even more to maintain the breadth of our Call of Duty player base beyond the launch quarters and the Call of Duty team is hard at work on that for this fall’s big content release excitement for which is incredibly high around the organization,” said Activision exec Collister Johnson. “We expect that both the launch and post-launch content will bring game-changing experiences to our fans.”

We haven’t heard a lot about this year’s Call of Duty release, which isn’t surprising, given that it hasn’t even been officially announced yet. We do know that it touts a campaign, unlike Black Ops 4, while rumours have also suggested that it won’t have a battle royale mode, unlike Black Ops 4. Either way, we should be learning more soon- Activision have confirmed that the game will be revealed officially before June 30th.

Activision confirms Q2 2019 reveal in its recent financial earnings call.

We won’t have to wait long for Activision to reveal the next Call of Duty. During its post-financial results earnings call, the publisher confirmed that the shooter would be revealed in Q2 2019. That basically means an announcement will be made some time between today and June 30th.

The smart money is on a pre-E3 2019 reveal, followed by a gameplay showcase at the expo, as has been the case with previous titles. Not much is officially known about the next Call of Duty, save for the fact that Infinity Ward is working on it. We do know that some professional football players got their hands on it recently.

It should be interesting to see how Infinity Ward’s next Call of Duty will exist next to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Treyarch’s shooter still has some legs with Blackout, not to mention its seasonal Operations (the latest one introduced a new Specialist). Then again, with rumours stating that Call of Duty 2019 won’t feature a battle royale mode, perhaps the two could co-exist together. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

A small drop on a Fortnite stream may have revealed something big.

The next entry in the annual Call of Duty series is nearing a reveal. The series has traditionally been revealed right before E3 in June, but we don’t know much about it as of now- other than the fact that Infinity Ward is this year’s developer, and that unlike Black Ops 4, it’s going to have a single player campaign. Now, though, we might know something else. Based on a casual conversation on a Fortnite stream coupled with an interesting tweet, it’s very possible the next Call of Duty is Modern Warfare 4.

We recently reported about a private event last week that invited several football players to try out the new Call of Duty ahead of its reveal. All videos and pictures where expertly shot to not show so much as a glimpse of the game. But one person who was there, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, was hanging out with streamer Nickmerks as he played Fortnite, and when talking about the event, explicitly said he had played Modern Warfare 4.

Couple that with a recent tweet by former Infinity Ward Creative Strategist Robert Bowling- in which a fan said they’d crap themselves if Marota was correct, and Bowling advised him to bring some brown pants.

It’s not an official confirmation, of course, so we have to take all of this with a grain of salt. But this, coupled with earlier rumors that Infinity Ward was going back to their roots, lends some credibility to the possibility.
