Cygames and Arc System Works confirmed at Granblue Fantasy Fes 2022-2023 that the update would have minor gameplay adjustments and adjustments for some characters. Players can also select boss music from RPG Mode when playing Standard matches. Blitz Mode will be available until June, while the Boss Battle Time Attack event is going to end.

Released in 2020, Granblue Fantasy: Versus is available for PS4, PS5 and PC. It’s received several DLC characters over the years and crossed 450,000 in digital sales and total shipments worldwide as of November 2020. Check out our review of the base game here. The final update for Granblue Fantasy: Versus (Ver 2.85) will be released on January 24.

In addition to enhanced visuals that more closely resemble the mobile game, the sequel features new features like Ultimate Skills. These are stronger versions of Plus Skills and can briefly slow an enemy, creating more openings for combos. The previous game’s cast returns (DLC characters included), but even more characters are included.

Story Mode replaces RPG Mode, featuring an “original saga” with new characters and all chapters from the first game. Cross-platform play and rollback netcode is also confirmed for multiplayer.

A new lobby system, Lobby Island, has also been added with players able to run around in. There’s also Grand Bruise Legends, similar to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, with various free for all and team-based party games for players. One of the main antagonists, Id, was also revealed. As one of Avia’s three generals, he’s described as a knight of “unparalleled strength.” More gameplay can be seen in the stream below, with Gran, Lancelot, Siegfried and other characters showcased. Cygames also confirmed two Assist Modes – the basic version will perform combos with one button, automatically unleash Skybound Arts and Link Attacks, and assist with map navigation. It also auto heals, guards and dashes.

The Full Assist Mode performs all actions automatically, with the player seemingly needing to move their character. Granblue Fantasy: Relink is out in 2023 for PS4, PS5 and PC. Series producer Tetsuya Fukuhara noted development is nearing the end and that the team is currently tuning the experience. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
