Host and producer Geoff Keighley has announced that the show will return to Los Angeles next year in June and feature Play Days by iam8bit.

This year’s Summer Game Fest is officially in the bag, though host and producer Geoff Keighley still has Gamescom Opening Night Live and The Game Awards coming later this year. Nevertheless, Keighley has confirmed that Summer Game Fest will return in June 2025, venturing to Los Angeles.

A concrete date has yet to be locked down (Friday, June 6th, is possible), but we can expect iam8bit’s presence with Play Days and even a showcase for fans to attend. As always, we’ll need to wait for further details, so stay tuned in the coming year.

In the meantime, Gamescom Opening Night Live is scheduled for August 20th, with titles like Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds appearing (and having a playable demo on the show floor). The trade show runs from August 21st to 24th, and though Nintendo won’t be present, Ubisoft has confirmed its attendance. Microsoft is rumored to have many more Xbox titles to showcase as well.

Sabotage Studio has announced it's partnering with iam8bit for a physical launch of its upcoming RPG sometime early next year.

One of the most highly anticipated indie releases of the year, Sea of Stars, is set to launch in a week’s time for PC and consoles, and though at launch it will be an exclusively digital release on all platforms, console players will also have the chance to get a physical copy of the retro RPG a few months down the road.

The same was recently announced by developer Sabotage Studio. In a recently published tweet, the studio revealed that it is partnering with iam8bit and will be releasing a physical edition of Sea of Stars sometime in early 2024. An exact release date is currently unknown, though the image accompanying the announcement confirms that physical versions will release for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Whether a PS4 physical version will also be coming is currently unconfirmed.

Sea of Stars launches on August 29 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and will also be available via Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium upon release. The game will also be fully optimized for the Steam Deck at launch. A free demo is available on all platforms.

The physical release for Psychonauts 2, dubbed the Motherlobe Edition, is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Alongside the game, the release also features extra goodies.

The physical release for 2021’s action platformer Psychonauts 2 is out now. Dubbed Psychonauts 2: The Motherlobe Edition, the physical release is being handled by iam8bit and Skybound Games working alongside publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Double Fine. Psychonauts 2: The Motherlobe Edition is priced at $69.99, and is available on PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Alongside the game itself, Psychonauts 2: The Motherlobe Edition comes with a reversible cover sheet for its box, along with a set of six two-sided art cards that show off concept art as well as final art that eventually made it into the game. It also includes six die-cut stickers, and a digital download code for unreleased behind-the-scenes material.

The physical launch for Psychonauts 2 was announced earlier this year.

Since its release back in August 2021, Psychonauts 2 has seen widespread success, both critical and commercial. Our own review of the game, which you can check out here, gave it a score of 9 out of 10. The game was also successful enough to become the best-selling game by Double Fine to date, according to art director Lisette Titre-Montgomery.

Studio MDHR is releasing a physical version of its acclaimed run 'n gun title and its expansion in collaboration with iam8bit.

Studio MDHR’s Cuphead has become something of a phenomenon over the last five years, having attracted a massive fanbase thanks to its gorgeous visuals and animation style and its challenging and immaculately designed run ‘n gun gameplay. If you’re in that fanbase and fancy yourself a collector, there’s something on the horizon that’s going to be worth keeping an eye on.

Studio MDHR recently took to Twitter and announced that, on the occasion of Cuphead’s fifth anniversary, it will release a physical edition of Cuphead for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in partnership with iam8bit. While details such as its release date and exact contents are currently unknown, the indie studio confirms that it will include the base game as well as the meaty expansion The Delicious Last Course, which learned earlier this year.

In our review of Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course thankfully doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. It takes the already-phenomenal gameplay of Cuphead, and just adds more Cuphead on top. Miss Chalice is also a great new character, making going back to the base game fun, even if you’ve already finished it.” Read the full review through here.

Shortly after the expansion’s launch, Studio MDHR announced that it had sold over a million units in less than two weeks.

On Cuphead’s 5th anniversary, we’re overjoyed to say: the game is Coming Soon to retail stores everywhere!! It will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch…including The Delicious Last Course!

We live in very strange times, it feels. Many things that are happening feel like they never should happen, and by and large, it feels as if anything and everything has been out of whack for some time. But, at the very least, these strange times have lead to some interesting things. Case in point, the Microsoft published Ori titles actually came to the Switch, a move that feels like it never would have happened just a few years back. Both of those titles will also be able to had in physical forms.

It was announced that both the first title, Ori and the Blind Forest, and the recently released sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, would be getting a physical release on Nintendo’s Switch. It’s a collaboration between Xbox Game Studios, Moon Studios, iam8bit and Skybound. Each release will cost $40 and include the digital soundtrack as well 6 art cards.

Both Ori titles are available now on the Switch digitally and the physical release for both will be December 8th. They are also available on Xbox One and PC.

iam8bit has always put it’s best foot forward when showcasing the artistic side of gaming. Anyone who’s visited it’s art exhibitions can attest to that, but the company is known for far more. Case in point: Their partnership with Square-Enix for the episode 1 of “The Super Dimensional Quantum Learning’s Problems and Solutions Gametime Spectacular!!”

The press release describes it best:

On the show, unsuspecting contestants join host Kevin Pereira and Professor Quadwrangle’s pet, an Interdimensional Kinetic Entity—better known as Ike—as they defy cosmic logic and win amazing prizes! The lucky participants are transformed and transported to otherworldly dimensions like FLUFFY, HEAVY, ANTI-GRAVITY and SLOW MOTION—real-life incarnations of the gameplay modes in the videogame, Quantum Conundrum.

Of course, if the game’s reality-defying antics aren’t enough of an indication, check out the first episode below (if you dare).

Quantum Conundrum releases on July 10th and 11th for PSN and XBox Live Arcade respectively, but you can grab it off Steam for PC today.
