The Battle demo lets you choose from two different parties and battle through the Märchen Garten, a virtual simulation with various locations and threats across the story. It plays a key role in the story, not unlike the Reverie Corridor from previous titles. On the other hand, the Story demo contains the beginning of the game, allowing one to experience the plot early.

Progress from the second demo can transfer to the second game when it launches. The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 is available on February 14th for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Check out our review of the first game – we gave an eight out of ten.

As for the sequel, it sees Van Arkride and Agnès Claudel returning and the Calvard Republic at relative peace. However, a strange crimson beast appears, causing havoc and murdering several bystanders. While the duo investigate the creature (and its equally mysterious AI), they run into other factions and persons of interest.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 launches on February 14th, 2025, for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It features the same combat system, with players switching between real-time hack-and-slash and turn-based command battles. New mechanics include all-out attacks and tagging in others for additional Charged Attacks on the field. The story also plays out in a format similar to Trails through Reverie. Trails through Daybreak 2 improves on its predecessor’s combat, adding Cross Charge and EX Chains. The former triggers after a Perfect Dodge, causing another party member to tag in and execute a charged attack during Field Battles. The latter will cause the party to go all-out against every enemy in Command Battles when meeting specific conditions.

The sequel also takes a similar approach to The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Reverie, with multiple playable characters per chapter that can be played in any order. Each has a unique cast and offers different missions, like stealth and hacking.

Check out the announcement trailer highlighting the sequel’s new gameplay mechanics. The free demo consists of the Prologue up to a portion of Chapter 3. Players can transfer save data from the demo to the game and continue progressing. Achievements and DLC from the title are not supported in the demo.

Ys 10: Nordics is out on October 25th in the West. Occurring between Ys 2: Ancient Ys Vanished and Ys 3: Memories of Celceta, it sees a younger Adol ending up in Obelia Bay, controlled by the Balta Seaforce.

After some mysterious circumstances, he ends up chained to Karja Balta and fighting against immortal beings known as Griegrs. Due to their predicament, Adol and Karja can attack together while utilizing Mana for fire and ice attacks.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 is releasing in the West in early 2025. A specific release date hasn’t yet been announced, but NIS America has confirmed that like its predecessor, Trails through Daybreak 2 will launch for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, which means Xbox players miss out once again.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 launched in Japan in September 2022. Its sequel, dubbed The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria, launches in Japan this September.

Available in September 2023 for Japan, the story takes place between Ys 2 and Ys: Memories of Celceta to focus on a younger Adol Christin. He and his best friend Dogi arrive at a new location, Obelia Gulf, and encounter seafaring warriors known as Normans. Karja Balta is one such individual and finds herself bound to Adol as the story progresses.

This leads to the Cross Action System, where players can switch between Adol and Karja for different attacks. They can also utilize Mana to explore the world, whether surfing on air currents, destroying obstacles or grappling. Ys 10: Nordics is also the first title to offer naval combat and traversal, with Adol utilizing the Sandras to explore the Gulf. Head here for more gameplay and details.

Ys 10: Nordics isn’t a direct sequel, like previous entries. Instead, it takes place after the events of Ys 2 and sees a younger Adol Christin visiting Obelia Bay. He eventually becomes linked to pirate Karja Balta, and they seek ways to disentangle their engagement. Of course, other conflicts break out, and it’s up to the duo to stop them.

The action RPG utilizes Falcom’s new engine for improved visuals and the Cross Action System, where Adol and Karja are playable together or separately, each unleashing devastating attacks. It also features new traversal mechanics with Mana and a ship for sailing through the region and engaging in naval battles. Stay tuned for more details on Ys 10: Nordics in the coming months.

The story sees Adol traveling to Obelia Bay and becoming intertwined, figuratively, with Carja Varta. The two become playable, with one taking the lead and providing unique abilities (like Adol’s Auto Dodge) or in Dual Mode to unleash more damage along with Just Guard and Revenge. Mana Actions include Highlight Attacks for flashy follow-ups; String to grapple across points and flip switches; Ride for surfing across impassable terrain and air currents; and more.

If that wasn’t enough, it’s also begun work on a new title. Speaking to Push Square, Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo said, “We have just reached a critical point in the development of Ys 10. Additionally, we have begun work on another new game.” Further details weren’t provided, but one could assume this is the next title in the Trails series, which will continue the Calvard arc.

Kuro no Kiseki launched in 2021 and even received a sequel, Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN-, last year. When can Western fans expect to play it in English? PushSquare interviewed Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo about plans for the same.

“We have been hard at work to get these projects started. There is nothing to announce quite yet, but we hope to be able to provide some news as soon as possible.” It could mean an announcement later this year or a reveal for next year’s Falcom Anniversary. Time will ultimately tell.

Falcom is also working on Ys 10: Nordics, a sequel in the acclaimed action RPG franchise set between Ys 1 and 2 and sees Adol travelling to Obelia Bay. It’s out on September 28th for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in Japan, but no Western release date has been confirmed.
