The native PS5 version includes 4K/60 FPS and 1080p/120 FPS modes, several cosmetic packs, and various graphical improvements.

Falcom’s critically acclaimed action RPG Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana is now available on PlayStation 5. It first launched in May 2017 for PlayStation Vita and PS4 before releasing on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia. Check out the release trailer below.

The story sees Adol shipwrecked (again), but this time, he’s trapped on the mysterious Seiren Island with several other survivors. As they explore and learn more about the island, they discover ancient beasts and the remnants of a mysterious civilization. For more details, check out our review here, but long story short, it’s an incredible action RPG with a surprisingly good plot.

The PS5 version offers various improvements to the textures, shadow detail and draw distance while pop-in has been eliminated. Load times are also shorter, and along with 4K/60 FPS, there’s a 120 FPS mode at 1080p resolution. If that weren’t enough, several cosmetic packs with accessories, alternate costumes, and more are included. Head here for more details.

Helldivers 2 seems to be a real game if this leaked trailer footage is anything to go by. Unfortunately, the leaked footage has since been taken down.

Helldivers 2 is reportedly turning out to be real. Footage of a trailer for the unannounced game was leaked on Twitter. The leak featured 12 seconds of footage, but has unfortunately been taken down due to a copyright claim.

The studio behind Helldivers, Arrowhead Game Studios, is known for its work on games with top-down perspectives, such as Magicka, Gauntlet, and yes, Helldivers.

While the studio has been pretty quiet, back in 2020, it had stated that it was working on a new triple-A game featuring “innovative co-op”, and “agency for the community to alter the course of the game”.

The description is quite similar to the Galactic Campaign mode from the original Helldivers, which involved players conquering planets, gaining influence, and eventually fighting against the main antagonists.

Arrowhead Game Studio has also stated that it was in the process of expanding its staff, which likely helped in the development of this unnamed game.

Helldivers is currently available on PC, PS3, PS4, and PlayStation Vita.

Originally released in August 2013 for PC, the hit puzzle title will finally be playable for iOS and Android users on mobile phones next month.

Lucas Pope’s hit puzzle/simulation title Papers, Please is finally coming to mobiles on August 5th. Though available for iOS since December 2014, it’s only been playable on iPad. This will be the first time that iPhone and Android players can enjoy the title.

Papers, Please tasks players as an immigration inspector for the fictional nation of Arstotzka, checking the passports of various immigrants to decide who can enter. Successfully checking passports and documents at a quick rate will earn more money, ensuring one’s family survives month to month. However, the guidelines and requirements become more stringent over time.

Other challenges can emerge but we won’t spoil everything. Garnering widespread acclaim for its gameplay mechanics, themes and writing, Papers, Please has sold over 1.8 million copies as of 2016. It’s currently available for PC, iOS for iPad, and PlayStation Vita. Check out our review for it here and the surprisingly excellent short film here.

The acclaimed action RPG first released on PS4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017 before coming to PC, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia.

Falcom’s Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana will be releasing for the PlayStation 5 this Fall, courtesy of NIS America. Originally released in 2017 for PlayStation Vita and PS4, the action RPG would then release on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2018 followed by Google Stadia in April 2021.

NIS America’s official tweet contains some gameplay footage but aside from running at 60 frames per second, it’s unclear what the PS5 version will offer. At the very least, it should be akin to Ys 9: Monstrum Nox which received an update to run at 4K resolution on the console. Time will tell so stay tuned for more details.

Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana follows adventurer Adol Christin as he and his long-time friend Dogi end up shipwrecked on the mysterious Isle of Seiren. Teaming up with other passengers, including playable characters like Laxia and Sahad, Adol explores the island to find a way off. In the meantime, the fate of a mysterious maiden named Dana also plays out and ties into the island’s history. For more details, check out our review here.

The social deduction/visual novel title sees players trying to find the Gnosia hidden among their crew and suss them out before it's too late.

After launching for Nintendo Switch last year, the PC version for Petit Depotto’s Gnosia suffered a delay into early 2022. However, it recently surprise launched on Steam. It’s now available for $25 – check out the Japanese launch trailer below.

Gnosia is about the titular beings which are bent on destroying humanity. As part of a crew on a spaceship, the player is tasked with finding and destroying the Gnosia. The twist is that they can infect different crew members and blend in. It’s up to the player to identify the impostors and sentence them into cold sleep before they can kill too many people.

Mixing elements of visual novels, role-playing games and social deduction, Gnosia also incorporates time looping elements. As you complete different loops, you’ll learn more about the Gnosia and level up different stats like Charisma, Charm, and so on to better convince crewmates, suss out impostors and use logic to win arguments.

The social deduction title has been delayed to allow "extra time for additional fine-tuning" to match the PS Vita and Switch versions.

Petit Depotto’s social deduction visual novel Gnosia was slated to release this year for PC via Steam. However, it’s run into a delay and will now be launching in early 2022. In a press release, publisher Playism said that the decision was made to “allow extra time for additional fine-tuning, with the aim of delivering the same feel of the critically acclaimed PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch versions.”

Once the release date has been finalized, a separate announcement will be made later. Originally released in 2019 for PlayStation Vita, Gnosia rose to prominence when it released for Nintendo Switch earlier this year. Set on a spaceship, the story follows several characters on-board along with a Gnosia, an alien that seeks to kill them. Speaking to different NPCs, it’s the player’s job to find out who is the Gnosia.

This isn’t a one-off task though – there’s a story to play through which involves time-looping and different roles that helps narrow down the Gnosia. If a single-player version of Among Us with an anime art-style appeals to you, it may be worth keeping an eye on for PC. Stay tuned for more details on its new release date in the coming months.

The hugely popular sandbox title will launch on November 2nd for the subscription service with both versions accessible in a single launcher.

Minecraft is currently available for Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. However, its PC versions have been absent from the subscription service. That’s going to change on November 2nd when Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition both being added.

Both versions will be playable on Windows 10 and 11, along with supporting cross-play with other platforms including mobile devices. They’ll both be available in a single launcher, allowing players to choose the one they want to go with. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is the more stable release and better suited for cross-platform play but the Java Edition allows for deeper modding and comes with Hardcore mode.

Having both options will thus be great though it remains to be seen if the Java Edition will support cross-platform play as well as the Bedrock Edition. Minecraft is currently available on pretty much every platform, from Xbox One, PS4 and PC to Nintendo Switch, iOS, Xbox 360, Android and PS3. Stay tuned for more details on its Game Pass launch in the coming weeks.

Fighting games aren’t for the weak of heart. Yes, you could hop into a game like Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball FighterZ or Street Fighter 5 and get by on some basic inputs. But properly mastering all the different combos and set-ups takes time. Then you have those combos which exist for no other reason than to destroy your motivation. Let’s take a look at 9 of them here.

Leona Trial 10 – The King of Fighters 13

The Trials in The King of Fighters 13 represent a fine line between testing your skill and outright destroying your hand. Leona Heidern’s Trial 10 is a good example. It consists of 16 hits with the need to transition from a Moon Slasher to a Baltic Launcher by canceling out of the latter not once, not twice but three times in a row. Then you have to execute and cancel out of a Grand Saber run, perform the Moon Slasher to Baltic Launcher inputs again, execute a V-Slasher – an in-air Desperation Move that requires one directional quarter circle followed by a half-circle and either Low or High Punch – before ending with a Leona Blade Neomax, which is another quarter circle followed a half-circle into a Low or High Punch. Got all that? Naturally, you need to be frame perfect, especially with the cancels, to pull it off properly.

Co-president Evan Wells notes that there's still "a lot of love" for the IP at the studio.

Naughty Dog is a fairly important studio for Sony especially with its Uncharted and The Last of Us titles garnering immense critical and commercial success. However, it’s hard to forget some of its more classic franchises like Jak and Daxter, which served as excellent 3D platformers in the PlayStation 2 era. While the company is rumored to be working on a remake for The Last of Us 1, what are the chances of a new Jak and Daxter in the future?

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells recently spoke about this with Insomniac’s Ted Price in the Game Maker’s Notebook series by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (transcription via VGC). Upon being asked whether the company receives requests for a new Jak and Daxter game, he replied, “We do, in fact. We’ve had a couple of Twitter campaigns where people have been tweeting us every single day [saying] ‘I want a new Jak and Daxter, I want a new Jak and Daxter’, and they aren’t just simple 280-character tweets, they have Photoshopped memes and everything they’re including on a daily basis, and the effort has got to be significant.”

“And I hate to break it to them, [but] we do not have Jak and Daxter here in development right now.” This doesn’t mean that Naughty Dog is down on the franchise though. As Wells notes, “We still love the characters and I see what you guys [at Insomniac] are doing with Ratchet and that makes me wish that we did, and we would have one in development, because there’s still a lot of love for Jak and Daxter in the studio.”

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was the first title in the series and launched in December 2001 for the PS2. It was followed by two sequels developed by Naughty Dog along with some spin-offs. High Impact Games would develop another sequel in 2009 for the PS2 and PSP while Jak and Daxter Collection, comprising HD ports of the first three games, would release in 2012 for PS3 and 2013 for PS Vita.
