"We don’t have a date to share just yet, but stay tuned," Full Circle said in a recently published update.

The long-awaited next instalment in EA’s Skate franchise has been in the works at Full Circle for a while now, and though it remains to be seen how long it’ll be before it’s ready for release, it’s been abundantly clear that the game is continuing to make steady progress behind-the-scenes. A lot of that, of course, has been down to the consistent playtesting Full Circle has been doing for the game on PC- but what about console players?

Full Circle has previously said that it intends to bring Skate’s playtests to consoles as well, and in a recently published update, the developer reiterated that. Though Full Circle remains unwilling to put a timeframe on when PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to get an early taste of the skateboarding title, the developer promises that console playtests are on the way.

“Yes, we are still currently only playtesting on PC but we promise console playtesting will be coming,” the developer wrote. “We don’t have a date to share just yet, but stay tuned.”

Skate is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be a free-to-play game featuring microtransactions, but Full Circle has insisted that it won’t have loot boxes or pay-to-win mechanics.

Check out some new gameplay for upcoming skateboarding game Skate, giving us a look at the title's development progress.

Developer Full Circle has released a new video showcasing the development progress being made on Skate. The video shows off footage from the game’s ongoing insider playtest, showcasing some sick tricks pulled off by players.

The video shows off footage described as pre-pre-alpha gameplay, and showcases a variety of skateboarding tricks, insane jumps, and even gives us a glimpse at the potential of things we can do off the skateboard, like swinging across on monkey bars.

Skate is currently deep in development, and even this latest video shows us that assets are nowhere near ready, with several ramps and half-pipes featuring flat colours instead of being fully textured. Back in May, EA revealed that it doesn’t expect Skate to come out before April 2024.

Full Circle has been quite transparent about the development of Skate, releasing periodic updates on the title’s development progress. Back in April, the studio revealed that it plans on bringing the Skate insider playtest to consoles later this year.

Skate is slated for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Upcoming skateboarding game Skate will not feature loot boxes, and will have player progression. There is also a console playtest in the works.

As part of the transparent development process for Skate, developer Full Circle has revealed a host of new details about the upcoming skateboarding title. In episode 3 of its The Board Room video series, the studio has revealed that the playtest for Skate won’t be exclusive to PC for too long, with a console release for the playtest slated for later this year.

The developers also revealed details about Skate‘s progression system. As part of progression in the game, players will be able to earn different rewards depending on their choice of difficulty. There will be three difficulty levels to choose from, and the hardest one will get players the most rewards.

While the studio hasn’t gone into too much detail about what kinds of activities players will be able to partake in, it has stated that every activity will get players closer to earning some sort of new reward. The rewards seem to be mostly cosmetic items that players can use to customise their characters.

The studio has stated, however, that activities will largely be categorised into one of four types: Challenges, Pop-ups, Community Events, and Throwdowns. Challenges will be short activities that regularly change. Pop-ups will feature dynamic activities that show up randomly throughout the game’s city. Community Events will have players skate collaboratively, and Throwdowns will allow players to play with each other in a variety of ways, from practicing together to showing off.

It was also confirmed that the game will not have loot boxes—which contradicts earlier rumours and was a decision that may have been changed after player feedback—and that the progression systems are still in the early stages of development.

Skate doesn’t yet have a release date, but it does currently have an ongoing playtest on PC. The game will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

EA and Full Circle's skating sim will launch for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox as a free-to-play title.

Full Circle and EA’s Skate reboot has been in the works for a while, and there’s still no word on how long it’ll be before the game is out, but much like Motive Studio did with the Dead Space remake in the lead-up to its launch, Full Circle has been pretty consistent with sharing early development gameplay footage on the title over the months.

Recently, another new trailer was released, showcasing pre-alpha gameplay footage of Skate from its ongoing insider playtest. As has been the case before, this is early development footage, which means it’s far from the finished product, especially where the visual aspects are concerned, but it offers plenty of glimpses of how the game is shaping up, showcasing its ragdoll physics, some of the more technical skating mechanics it will feature, and more. Check it out below.

Skate is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Full Circle and EA have previously confirmed that the game will launch as a free-to-play title with microtransactions, though it won’t have any paid loot boxes or pay-to-win mechanics.

Following a report on loot box-like mechanics, Full Circle says there won't be any paid gameplay advantages or pay-walled areas.

Full Circle continues to plug away at Skate, the follow-up to Electronic Arts skating franchise. No release date is confirmed, but it is free-to-play with cross-play and cross-progression. Microtransactions seem a given but concerns flared up again with a report on Swag Bags.

Pre-alpha tests revealed to Insider Gaming recently that Swag Bags contain cosmetics and are purchasable with Stars. These are earned by completing challenges, but you can only see one item out of the five awarded. There are concerns the currency, Swag Bags or both could be monetized down the line.

Full Circle didn’t outright refute that, but it reiterated in a recent tweet that the title would not be pay-to-win. No map areas locked behind paywalls, and no paid loot boxes. So while Swag Bags and premium cosmetics may still be a thing, you won’t be paying for the former or gaining an advantage over others.

Skate is coming to PC. Stay tuned for more details on other platforms in the coming months.

EA's upcoming free-to-play revival of Skate is slated to feature loot boxes with cosmetic rewards.

EA’s revival of Skate is set to feature loot boxes. According to Insider Gaming, playtesters for the game that is currently in its pre-alpha stages, have reported that the game features loot boxes called “Swag Bags” in the game.

In the game’s current state, the only way to get access to these Swag Bags is to spend a currency called Stars, which can be earned by completing various challenges in the game.

Skate‘s loot boxes will contain one out of five items that can be seen before making the purchase. The game doesn’t reveal the odds of getting any one item over another, however. Rather than duplicate protection, the game will instead replace duplicate items with another currency, Hype, which can be used to craft specific items.

Currently, Skate features 16 lootboxes, with 80 items in total. It is quite likely that more items and lootboxes will be added to the game as time goes on.

Skate is set to be a free-to-play game, and will be coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also feature crossplay and cross-progression.

Check out how development is going for EA's highly-anticipated skateboardng game Skate in a new developer showcase.

Publisher EA and developer Full Circle have released a new video showing off development progress for the highly-anticipated skateboarding game Skate. The video features senior creative director Cuz Parry, senior animation director Matt Derksen, lead gameplay designer Ryan Pelcz, franchise art director Magali Sonnet-Debard, and lead level designer Elliott Walton.

The team states that all of the gamelay shown off in the new video isn’t exactly the same as what we’ve seen before. Rather, the team has taken quite a bit of feedback into account to iterate on the previous version of the game quite a bit. All of that said, the video also makes it clear that this is still incredibly early footage from a pre-pre-alpha build of Skate.

This is the first time we’ve seen gameplay footage from Skate since leaks from earlier this year. The studio had, at the time, released footage from an incredibly early version of the game, and despite its use of placeholder art and rough gameplay, the studio said that it felt “humbled” by the community’s resonse.

Skate doesn’t yet have a release date, but we do know that it is going to be free-to-play, and will feature microtransactions.

Developer Full Circle has released a statement about the leaked build for the in-development Skate. The studio has confirmed that the leak was for a build from September 2021.

In light of the recent leaked build of an in-development version of Skate, studio Full Circle has released a statement on its official website. In the statement, the studio makes it clear that the leaked build is from September 2021, and was never intended for external use.

“While we understand you’re excited to get into the game, we encourage you to be careful when downloading files from unknown sources (and remind you of the potential consequences of breaking EA’s Terms of Service),” said the studio in the statement.

Full Circle has also mentioned that it has felt humbled by the community’s response to the Still Working On It video for Skate that had been released back in June. While quite rough and clearly in need of more development, the video showed off some sleek gameplay, and the animations on some of the tricks were pretty much on-point.

Videos of the leaked build were originally available on a shared Google Drive, but have since been taken down. The videos showed off on-foot gameplay, as well as some tricks. The uploader noted that, while quite rough and in need of a lot of work, a lot of the animations were “pristine”.

Skate doesn’t yet have a solid release date, but it does have an ongoing playtest with rolling invitations being sent out to those who register. Skate will be released on PC. Console releases haven’t been spoken about by the studio yet.

Despite being very early in development, gameplay showcases smooth tricks, swinging from bars, wall-running and other cool things.

Rumors claimed that Full Circle’s skate., the Skate sequel that fans have been clamoring for, would be revealed in July. Instead, some new pre-pre-alpha (and pre-pre-pre-alpha) gameplay is showcased in a new trailer (titled “Still Working On It”). Check it out below.

Though it’s still rough, skate. is shaping up rather well – the pre-pre-alpha gameplay looks sleek and the animations on various tricks are on-point. Of course, it’s also worth noting some of the crazier features, like being able to climb up walls, swing from bars, and even wall-run. This seems to be multiplayer footage but it could honestly just be the development team messing around with as many players as possible within the game’s environments.

Either way, players can find out by signing up for the insider program here and providing feedback. While the game is very early in development, Full Circle is committed to getting it right. skate. is currently confirmed for PC – stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Sources speaking to insider Tom Henderson suggest the title is "much further along in development" than previously believed.

Full Circle’s skate., the long-requested sequel in Electronic Arts’ Skate series, hasn’t received much new information lately. A playtest reportedly took place in April with pre-alpha gameplay footage leaking online but despite EA CEO Andrew Wilson proclaiming its release “soon,” there’s been few official details. That could change next month.

In a new report on TryHardGuides, sources told insider Tom Henderson that skate. could be revealed in July. It’s reportedly undergone “extensive playtesting” in the past few months and is “much further along in development” than initially believed (which echoes a similar report from March). The pre-alpha gameplay was assumed to have been recent when it leaked in April. However, Henderson’s sources suggest that it was “likely months old” by that point.

Of course, what Electronic Arts could showcase (and when) in July remains to be seen. We may see official gameplay while various content creators and journalists will allegedly go hands-on with the title. As for a release window and platforms (aside from PC), stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
