While footage from the trailer makes use of the game’s own engine, the trailer doesn’t really show what gameplay for the Chaos Dwarf faction will look like. Rather, it gives us a glimpse at the race in general, and an idea of what their armies will look like.

While Dwarfs have been playable in the Total War: Warhammer games since the first release, Chaos Dwarfs will be more than just a reskin. The Chaos-aligned Dwarfs will combine the race’s love of heavy artillery and war machines along with the dark magics of the Chaos Gods.

The announcement comes after narrative lead Andy Hall recently revealed that the studio is working on releasing new DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3. Hall also stated that players should expect new Legendary Heroes and Legendary Lords coming to the game as well.

Total War: Warhammer 3 is available on PC. The Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs DLC is slated for release on April 13.

Currently, Total War: Warhammer 3 seems to have 55,828 concurrent players playing right now, with 88,133 concurrent players being the 24-hour peak. For context, the all-time peak number of concurrent players sits at 166,754 from back when the game originally released.

Earlier this month, Total War: Warhammer 3 got a trailer showing off its Immortal Empires map in great detail through a 13-minute fly-by of all the landmasses.

The trailer shows us a fly-by of the massive Immortal Empires map, giving us a glimpse at the various factions and regions in the map, all set to an orchestral score to underline just how epic the map is.

Immortal Empires, on launch, will feature 86 playable Legendary Lords over 23 races, 533 regions, 287 starting factions, and 4 sea lanes to help better navigate the huge map.

Immortal Empires is an upcoming free update for Total War: Warhammer 3 where the campaign maps of all three games are combined into one massive map that players can play through.

Alongside Immortal Empires, Total War: Warhammer 3 is also getting paid DLC in the for of the Champions of Chaos—four new Legendary Lords representing various aspects of Chaos.

The Immortal Empires map is set to be the largest map of any Total War game released so far, and is nearly double the size of the Mortal Empires map from Total War: Warhammer 2.

The studio also talks about how the new Sea Lanes feature will work in Immortal Empires. Interacting with Sea Lanes will allow players to travel from the eastern edge of the map to the western edge, and vice versa. The only exception to this will be the Underworld Sea, which connects the Sea of Malice to the Boiling Sea.

While essentially the entire Warhammer Fantasy setting will be present in Immortal Empires, it is worth noting that parts of the map—like Ind and Khuresh—will not be traversable. Campaign mechanics like Realms of Chaos or Eye of the Vortex will also not be present in Immortal Empires, as it is meant to be a sandbox campaign.

In the next update, Creative Assembly will talk about the starting positions for all the playable races in Immortal Empires.

Total War: Warhammer 3 was released on PC earlier this year. Immortal Empires is set to come out as a free update for Total War: Warhammer 3 in August as a beta release. Players will need to own Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2 to be able to access Immortal Empires.

Immortal Empires is essentially the Total War: Warhammer 3 version of Total War: Warhammer 2‘s Mortal Empires. The update will add a new campaign that combines the maps and factions of all three Total War: Warhammer games, providing players a large number of factions to choose from, as well as a massive campaign map to conquer.

Once the update is released, players will presumably be required to own all three Total War: Warhammer games to access the new mode. Immortal Empires will also take into account all of the DLC factions and leaders that players might own, including those for the older games.

Total War: Warhammer 3 was released back in February. The original release had issues regarding performance and optimisations. However, updates since the release have reduced these issues by a large extent.
