The return of these Tours is being kicked off by the Track Toys Tour coming back this month, and the Ringer Tour in September.

While the cuts at Microsoft this year have had quite a few effects when it comes to new projects being cancelled, according to developers Turn 10 and Playground Games, support will continue for racing sim Forza Motorsport as well as open-world racing game Forza Horizon 5. In a new post on its official website, Turn 10 has detailed the new content that is coming to Forza Motorsport, this time around focusing on the Track Toys Tour.

The Track Toys Tour has been brought back to Forza Motorsport permanently, and with it, brings back a reward that players only had a chance to get when the tour was first available in the game – the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935.

Turn 10 has also confirmed that each month will see another Tour being brought to the game, with September 4 bringing with it the Ringer Tour. This cadence of Tour release will continue until all of the Featured Tours have been returned to Forza Motorsport.

These Tours were previously available on a temporary basis, and while many players had been unable to complete them when they were first available, the studio has stated that these players won’t lose their progress. If, for instance, you were halfway through completing the Ringer Tour, once the Featured Tour comes back in September, you will be able to pick things up right where you left off.

Turn 10 does point out that the rewards associated with the Featured Tours activity can only be earned once. This means that if you, for example, have already finished up the Track Toys Tour and got the Porsche in the past, completing it again will not reward you with a brand new one.

Along with the Featured Tours, new challenges will also be added to the Challenge Hub that will allow players to earn previous Open Class Tour rewards. These challenges are also slated for release at the same monthly cadence as the returning Featured Tours.

For players that might not be familiar with the Track Toys Tour, the Tour is split into four distinct series, with each one focusing on specific vehicles and their races. Series 1, for instance, is dubbed Ginetta Juniors and will have players race around in a 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior. Series 2, on the other hand, will have more options, including the 2016 Porsche Cayman GTS. Series 3 will spotlight the Caterham R500, and Series 4 will wrap things up with purpose-built track cars, like the 2019 Elemental RP1. Finishing all for Series will earn you the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935.

September’s Ringer Tour will focus on German-made cars, with its various series featuring vehicles like the BMW M-series cars, the Mercedes-AMG cars, and Audi sport cars, before wrapping things up with a showdown between different drivers behind the wheels of the Porsche 911. Completing the Ringer Tour will earn players the 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

Completing some of the new challenges being added to the Challenge Hub can earn players rewards like a 1974 Porsche $1 911 RSR and a 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe.

Among other things, the update brings with it new hatchbacks and sedans to kick off the Daily Racer series of events that will run until March.

Developer Turn 10 has released a new update for its sim racing game Forza Motorsport. The update, numbered at 17, brings with it improvements to the Rival select system, updated car audio for a few of the cars, and other fixes. Check out the full patch notes for update 17 below.

Alongside these fixes, the studio has also announced new in-game events, the first of which will be kicking off on February 12. The main focus of these events is to highlight what the studio refers to as Daily Racers. These are essentially meant to be souped up versions of everyday consumer cars, and range from hatchbacks to V8 sedans.

As part of this event, four new cars will be coming to the in-game Showroom: the 2023 Toyota Camry TRD, 2021 Hyundai i20 N, 2022 Toyota GR86, and the 2021 Hyundai #98 Elantra TCR.

The event also brings with it new cars that players can earn by taking part in the Challenge Hub challenges, including the 2021 Toyota Yaris GR, and the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

As for the full event schedule, February 12 to March 26 will have the Modern Hot Hatch event with the 2020 Hyundai i30 N as its spotlight car, February 19 to March 26 will have the Luxury & Horsepower event with the 2022 Cadillac CT5V Blackwing as its spotlight car, February 26 to March 26 will have the RWD Roadsters event with the 2022 Mazda MX-5 RF as its spotlight car, and March 5 to March 26 will have the Battle of Sedans event with the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N as its showcase car.

Completing all four series in the Daily Racers Tour in Career mode before March 26 will allow players to unlock the 2021 Toyota Yaris GR through the Challenge Hub. Players can also get the car by completing 10 races in the Daily Racer Series in the Featured Multiplayer mode.

All of these cars can also be used in the Open Class Tour mode through the Featured tab in Career mode. Open Class Tour allows players to experiment with their favourite cars, allowing for fun upgrades and modifications.

Forza Motorsport is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. For more details about the sim racing title, check out our review from back when it first came out.

Forza Motorsport Update 17 patch notes:

An improved Rival select system changes how friends and random players are prioritized as your Next Rival when there are no more friends to beat on the event’s leaderboard or when your next friend’s best lap time is exceedingly faster than yours, while ensuring each new Rival presents a decent challenge.

Updated car audio for the 1998 Toyota Supra RZ and 2020 Toyota GR Supra.

Fixed bugs in the updated 2019 Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 exhaust sound and 2021 Porsche GT3 cockpit audio.

Fixed a bug where opponent cars were not being attenuated correctly in cockpit view.

Fixed an issue where the game could restart when using the Quick Resume suspend feature on Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Rivals events can now be switched quickly without causing game instability.

"One thing we’ve definitely heard loud and clear is it’s been too long since we’ve shipped what people would say is a big first-party game," says Phil Spencer.

Though 2022 has certainly seen its fair share of excellent new games, with several more still to come, there’s been a general feeling among many that by and large, the year hasn’t been as packed full of major new titles as some past years have been. Particularly where first party releases on Xbox are concerned, the year has looked quite light- and that’s something that Microsoft recognizes.

Speaking recently with Same Brain, Xbox boss Phil Spencer acknowledged that 2022 hasn’t seen nearly enough major first party releases for Xbox consoles, before adding that 2023 is going to be much stronger, especially with the likes of Redfall and Starfield set to launch next year.

“One thing we’ve definitely heard loud and clear is that it’s been too long since we’ve shipped what people would say is a big first party game,” Spencer said. “We can have our excuses on COVID and other things, but in the end I know people invest in our platform and they want to have great games. We’re excited about 2023. We’ve talked about games that are coming, and those games are tracking well. We’re out of what COVID did to the production schedule.

“And I think as an industry- we have fewer games this Holiday than we’ve had in a while when you think about the launches. Call of Duty is coming, God of War is coming, which is great. Nintendo has had a good year. But I’d say in general we’ve been a little light. But I look at 2023, and there’s a great lineup of games coming that I’m excited about. Getting our first real Xbox first party games out of Bethesda, having them ship with Redfall and Starfield will be a lot of fun.”

In addition to the two Bethesda titles, Microsoft also has Forza Motorsport in the pipeline for next year. Several other major games that don’t currently have release dates are also in development, including the likes of Fable, Avowed, Perfect Dark, Contraband, and more.

Where the remainder of this year is concerned, November 15 will see the launch of Obsidian Entertainment’s Pentiment.

After spending some time in silent development, Turn 10 has announced a new feature for Forza Motorsport: corner mastery with social features and leaderboards.

Developer Turn 10 has announced a new feature for the upcoming Forza Motorsport. Dubbed Corner Mastery, the system will allow players to practice on specific corners throughout the game’s various tracks.

Along with helping players get better at cornering, the corner mastery system will also be a social experience with leaderboards, allowing for some friendly rivalries to develop while practising tricky turns.

Aside from the new feature reveal, Turn 10 has been quite silent about Forza Motorsport since its showcase back in June. During that showcase, the studio revealed that the game will be targetting 4K/60fps on Xbox Series X, and 1080p/60fps on Xbox Series S.

The game’s director has also insisted that its ray-tracing features will be enabled even during gameplay.

Forza Motorsport is set to launch in Spring 2023, and will be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. For more information on Forza Motorsport, here are 8 things we learned about the upcoming game.

The Forza series continues to be one of Microsoft’s most popular series, as seen from the continued success of Forza Horizon 4. But one can’t forget its sister series, Motorsport. The eighth entry in the series was announced last year in a Xbox Games Showcase. While there’s still no word on when we can expect the game, it does seem some lucky players will get a chance to try out an early version of it.

In a video published on the official Forza Motorsport Twitter, Creative Director Chris Esaki revealed that a new feedback-based playtest could be applied for now. It’s part of a new initiative by developer Turn 10 to get as much feedback from the community as possible. Though who apply can potentially get into an early version of the game and offer various degrees of feedback. You can apply through the link here.

As of now, Forza Motorsport 8 has been announced for the Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s unclear if the game is also in development for Xbox One. All of the information we know about the game can be read through here.

You don’t get very many second chances in the video game market – as I’ve spoken at length before, first impressions matter, and a lot. But Microsoft managed to buy themselves more time, and gain just that – after May’s disastrous Inside Xbox, they promised an event in July that would be the real Xbox Series X games showcase. And after Sony’s great PS5 show last month, expectations were high.

And to be fair, going in, Microsoft was well positioned – far better positioned than they have been in years. The Series X is undeniably the more powerful console. Xbox has been doing great on the services front, with Game Pass especially being a home run. And on the games front, we had reason to be optimistic – after all, Microsoft had gone on a heck of an acquisition spree a few years ago, and tripled the size of their first party roster. And they got themselves some big names! Double Fine, Ninja Theory, Obsidian… surely with these new studios, as well as the long awaited Halo Infinite, which promised to be a back to basics bold reinvention of the once beloved IP, they would be comfortably positioned to at the very least have a show that met expectations – if not outright exceeded them.

And, yet again, Microsoft fumbled. It’s become a pattern with the company to be able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at this point. Time and time again, Microsoft seems to be on the verge of greatness, and then decides to turn back and walk away. And it’s getting impossible to justify these missteps anymore, really hard to keep making excuses.

Let’s start at the absolute, most basic level: one big reason that May’s Inside Xbox got so much criticism was that in spite of promising “next generation gameplay” footage, actual gameplay was scarce in that show. Most of the trailers we saw were CG or in-engine targets. The backlash was severe, and Microsoft admitted they had mismanaged expectations, promising to do better on this front going forward. Spoiler: they did not. Actual gameplay footage was an endangered species during this show. Outside of Halo Infinite, there was very little meaningful gameplay footage shared at all, in fact.

We’ll get back to Infinite in a moment, so let’s talk about everything else first. We saw a short trailer for a new Forza game. No gameplay footage. Not out this year. We saw State of Decay 3 announced, again, with no gameplay footage, and no announced release window. Everwild, Rare’s fascinating new game, was also shown off – with no gameplay footage, and no announced release window. Which makes total sense, because even Rare doesn’t know what the basic mechanics of Everwild are yet, as they admitted in an interview with Video Game Chronicles. So that one’s probably not coming for years – maybe not even until the end of the generation.

We got to see Avowed, and I have to be honest, this one really excites me on a personal level. I’ve wanted a new Elder Scrolls style fantasy RPG for a very long time now, and with The Elder Scrolls 6 nowhere in sight for now, and Skyrim finally beginning to show its age, the prospect of a new game in that vein, and by Obsidian no less, is one of the most hype inducing things I can imagine. Except, of course, we didn’t really get to see any gameplay footage. Or a release window. Psychonauts 2, delayed to next year. Hellblade 2, just a passing mention, with the confirmation the game takes place in Iceland. And then there was Fable.

We’ve wanted a new Fable game for a really long time now. It’s a fan favorite series, and it’s been dormant for a decade now. And given that the last two Fable releases were the Kinect-only The Journey and the hugely disappointing Fable 3, it’s been even longer since the last good one (you’d have to go all the way back to Fable 2 for that). And this game has been rumored for a really long time now. An open world Fable game by Playground Games, the folks behind Forza Horizon. We’ve been hearing about Playground’s new open world RPG project since 2017, when the release of Horizon: Zero Dawn demonstrated to Phil Spencer that there is still a market for singleplayer games (why it took that long for this realization, I can’t say, but this isn’t the time to get into that). So surely this game would have a meaty showing, something for fans to chew on, maybe some gameplay footage, or even an in-engine glimpse at the world and- Haha, nope. It was a short CG trailer, that confirmed the new Fable game, and that was it. No gameplay footage. No release window.

This is a broader pattern, as you’ve probably caught on to by now, and it’s an issue on a lot of levels. The most fundamental problem is, if you have all these games that have no release window attached to them, and no gameplay to show, then they are nowhere near release. Most of these games, at least the most interesting seeming ones, like Everworld or Avowed or Fable, are probably late 2022, early 2023 at the soonest. Which means that the Xbox Series X’s slate of exclusive first party content for the first year after launch seems dire.

In and of itself, this doesn’t have to be an issue. The PS4 and Xbox One both sucked on the first party front for a year or so after release, only starting to pick up the slack in 2015. But that’s exactly the thing – both consoles were doing poorly with exclusives back then, so neither had a disadvantage. This isn’t that – Sony seems to have stacked the PS5 with major exclusives, at least console exclusives, starting right from launch. So Series X needs to match the PS5 on that, especially since Microsoft, unlike Sony or Nintendo, needs to establish that its console will have enough compelling exclusive content to be worth buying into for. And Series X isn’t doing that. As far as big exclusives go, the buck starts, and ends, with Halo Infinite.

So, Halo Infinite. Halo‘s big return. The 2018 teaser has become legendary, for how gorgeous it looked, and for its promise of a new, reinvented Halo game that realized the vision of the original. And Halo Infinite is confirmed to be a Series X launch game. So this had the potential to be Microsoft’s Breath of the Wild moment, except, as seems to be endemic to the Xbox division right now for some reason, they have fumbled on the execution.

Look, I think Halo Infinite looks good. I like the idea of a more open Halo, and I think the series’ core gameplay loop is incredibly fun, fun enough to rope me back in. But that’s really all Halo Infinite looks like – more Halo. Except in a bigger sandbox now. There’s no major gameplay reinvention like Zelda or God of War, it is the exact same Halo game as before, but in a bigger play area. And amidst all of this, it looks… not that impressive.

Again, I don’t think it looks bad. It looks pretty good if put against the average current generation game – but it’s not a current generation game, it’s a next generation title. Not just any next generation title, the flagship title for the most powerful next generation console. A lot was riding on Halo Infinite, for so many reasons: it’s the big return of Halo, and the game that can hopefully make the IP as big in the mainstream as it once used to be. It’s the premier launch game for Xbox Series X. It’s the only meaningful major exclusive for Xbox Series X for the foreseeable future. And also, if ever there was a game that could justify Microsoft’s cross-generation support strategy, this was it. If Halo Infinite had delivered, it would have been so much easier to believe Phil Spencer when he says that having to make games for Xbox One won’t hold back Series X games.

But Infinite didn’t deliver. Again, not to say it was bad. It looks cool. But it looks like more Halo. It’s preaching to the choir. It’s not winning any new converts, not bringing in new or lapsed fans to expand the reach (heh) of the series like God of War or Breath of the Wild did. And it certainly does not look like a next generation game at all. Some of its screenshots, in fact, look shockingly bad (the game does admittedly look better in motion). And the information 343 Industries has shared since the show – it’s a “platform for ten years”, new stories will be “told within Halo Infinite“, it won’t even have raytracing (a basic next generation feature) at launch – only deflate the hype further (especially when you realize that the 2013 Xbox One hardware will provide the base for the next ten years of Halo. Sigh).

I’m not even angry at this point, I’m just disappointed. I wanted Xbox to come out swinging. I wanted to love Halo and Fable again. I want Microsoft to be a strong player, and keep Sony and Nintendo on their toes. But they are not doing the most important thing they need to as a gaming platform holder. They are doing great with hardware, sure, and services, fantastic. But they are, time and time again, failing with games, and games are ultimately what matters, not hardware, not services. And if there’s one thing today’s Xbox show demonstrated, it’s that, Halo notwithstanding, Xbox won’t have those kinds of games for a while.

Plus some new features as well.

Forza Motorsport 7 already has a ridiculously big roster of available cars for players, but that roster will continue to swell and grow even further when the March Car Pack releases later this month. Among the new cars that the Car Pack will add this month are included the 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider, 1977 Brabham #8 Motor Racing Developments BT45B1, 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, 983 Jaguar #44 XJR-5,2017 Lincoln Continental, 1988 Nissan #33 Bob Sharp Racing 300ZX, and the 2017 Volvo XC90 R-Design.

That apart, other new features added to the game this month will include new features for people spectating races, which will allow more control to both, the host and the spectator, over how the race is viewed.

Forza Motorsport 7 launched last year for the Xbox One and for Windows 10 PCs. The seventh entry in the long running series continued the tradition of excellent Turn10 has established. Check out the trailer for the March Car Pack for yourself below.

Forza 7 gets just a little extra tuning

Forza Motorsport 7 continues to dominate the racing sim genre, and part of why is that Turn 10 continues to grow and maintain the game. A new patch just dropped for the title, and introduces a couple of small quality of life features, and plugs a few PC specific bugs.

The game now includes a Spectate mode and a Seed the Grid feature on both platforms, which allow players to view online public and private races without needing to participate themselves, and giving lobby hosts the option to set their own race grid.

On the PC side, several bugs were squashed such as text to speech chat affecting multiplayer gameplay, and a buggy Dynamic Render Quality, which would unlock itself depending on other settings without telling the player. There was also a problem where the game wouldn’t show players information on the next race in the player’s campaign, which is now fixed. You can check out some of the notes below or see the full patch notes right here.

Head to head comparison between Xbox One X and Xbox One versions of Forza Motorsport 7.

Forza Motorsport 7 was a visual showcase on the Xbox One and it isn’t actually a big surprise that Turn 10 pushes the game’s graphical barriers even further on the Xbox One X. To begin with, the game runs at a native 4K and 60fps on the Xbox One X and uses a higher quality EQAA solution to smoothen out the edges.

This is a massive boost compared to the already superb 1080p/60fps presentation on the Xbox One. Other than the rise in pixel counts, Microsoft’s latest machine features higher resolution textures, improved draw distances, shadow quality, texture filtering and anisotropic filtering. The Xbox One X also features noticebale refinements to overall lighting and reflections giving it a much more richer look compared to its predecessor.

As we noted in our original Xbox One and PC versions analysis, as time goes by developers get well acquainted with the hardware, allowing them to push boundaries with every new game they develop. In case of Forza Motorsport 7 and Xbox One X, we are already seeing some great results, specially given how the platform is still in infancy. The advent of the Xbox One X is a stepping stone towards the 4K era of video games and Forza Motosport 7 is leading this race in pole position.

A complete guide for Forza Motorsport 7.

Like clockwork, Forza has a new release this year. Forza Motorsport7 continues the series’ tradition for excellence and incremental improvement, delivering yet another top of the class racing sim for fans. Along the way, there are some stumbles thanks to its implementation of microtransactions, but the core package here is very strong.

If that core package is what you need help with, we’re here for you. In this guide, we will walk you through some basic tips and tricks, some farming tricks for money, the customization options available to you in the game, every car in the game, every track in the game, the fastest cars in the game, and of course, the Achievements you can unlock.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Don’t rev too hard when the race is starting- this can actually cause your engine to stall a little when you shift up, and cause a minor delay

Master braking- this means you need to learn how to rake while keeping the route you intend to take in mind, and also learn to ignore the braking lines, because while they are a good assist for beginners, they do not indicate the best braking you can achieve

Get familiar with a variety of different cars and car types- while you will undoubtedly settle into using one or two cars regularly over the long term, you should be familiar with a broader range

Learn to keep your speed and stability around corners- turn in with a wide berth, and let go of the acceleration a bit, but not entirely. Do not abuse the brake on corners.

Don’t be afraid to mod and customize your car

FARMING MONEY AND XP (Unlimited Money, Credits And XP):

Unlock the 2013 Ram Runner Forza Edition. If you are a VIP Pass holder, you already have this car

Go to Free Play. Select the Test Track Airfield.

Set the time limit to 30 seconds, and opponents to zero

Start the race, finish it, and restart. Make sure you drive. The purpose of this is that you get credits for completing and driving, and this method gives you the fastest track for doing so. When you level up, you will get 20,000 CR, and a choice for further money, a discounted car, or gear.

Plus, the videos below demonstrate some good techniques for XP and CR farming.

CUSTOMIZATION AND TUNING

Customization and tuning have always been an integral part of the Forza games, and Forza 7 is no different in that regard. You get a dizzying array of options to choose from to tune your car- and we’re here to walk you through all of them. The video below demonstrates the customization and tuning options present in the game.

ALL CARS AND TRACKS

There are over 700 cars in Forza 7, and an obscene amount of tracks as well, making it the most equipped and content filled racing sim on the market, bar none- especially now that Gran Turismo has downgraded from over a thousand cars to under 200.

Is your head spinning just contemplating those numbers? We understand! That’s why we have these video guides for you below, showing you all the cars and tracks in the game.

FASTEST CARS

Okay, guess what the point of a racing game is. It’s to be faster than others, right? That means you need the fastest car. not always, mind- speed alone isn’t actually that good on a curvy track, for example (you’d need something with better traction, a lower center of gravity, good handling, and fantastic acceleration to do well on tracks like those), but in general, you can’t go wrong with speed.

So, knowing what the fastest cars in the game are can’t hurt, right? That’s where these videos, demonstrating some of the fastest vehicles you can get your hands on in the game, come in.
