Sony's open world survival PS4 title has managed to outperform a highly anticipated multiplatform game.

The latest weekly sales charts for boxed video game sales in the UK have been released by UKIE/GfK Chart-Track (via GamesIndustry), and the results in the top 10 for the week ending April 27 hold some surprises. Days Gone and Mortal Kombat 11 were the two big releases of the week, but Sony’s PS4 exclusive open world title has taken the top spot, while Mortal Kombat 11 comes in at second place.

That’s in spite of the fact that Mortal Kombat 11 was on the market for three days longer, while also being available on more platforms than Days Gone. Mortal Kombat 11’s debut sales are 43.6 per cent lower than those of Mortal Kombat X, but slightly more than those for Injustice 2 in 2017. It’s worth noting that these sales only include retail sails though, with digital figures, as always, not being included. 71 per cent of Mortal Kombat 11’s sales came on the PS4.

Meanwhile, World War Z, which topped charts last week, has dropped down to tenth place after a 70 per cent drop in sales. The rest of the games in the top 10 are ones that figured in last week as well, with the exception of Forza Horizon 4, which moves up from 16th place to the eighth spot.

You can check out the full top 10 below.

UPDATE: The figures reported in this report were based on originally incomplete data. An updated sales chart has been issued- you can take a look through here.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Gfk Chart-Track has released the data for video game software sales in the UK for the week ending January 12, and the enhanced Nintendo Switch port New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has debuted on top of the charts in what GamesIndustry reports has been a relatively quiet week. FIFA 19, which was on top of the charts last week, has dropped down to second place as a result, while Red Dead Redemption is pushed down to number 3. Both games saw a drop in sales, as is often the case in January, which is traditionally a quieter month for video game sales- FIFA 19 sales dropped by 52 per cent week on week, and Red Dead Redemption 2 sales dropped by 53 per cent.

Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t the only Rockstar game in the top 10. The perennially successful Grand Theft Auto 5 has also re-entered the charts, placed at the eighth position. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is in at number 4, while Switch exclusives Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follow behind in the fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Battlefield 5 has dropped down two places to seventh, while Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy comes in at number 9. Forza Horizon 4 rounds off the top 10. You can check out the full top 10 below- as reported last week, Gkf Chart-Track will begin compiling physical and digital sales data soon, but that is not the case for now, and these sales reflect only physical software sales.

The latest weekly sales charts for physical video game software sales in the UK, as provided by Gfk Chart-Track, are in, and FIFA 19 has reclaimed the top spot for the week ending January 5. That, of course, means that Red Dead Redemption 2 has slipped down one place from last week to the second position. Both games, however, also saw a drop in week-on-week sales, with a 64 per cent drop for Red Dead Redemption 2, and a 62 per cent drop for FIFA 19, as reported by GamesIndustry.

The rest of the top 5 is unchanged from last week, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Battlefield 5 retaining their places at the third, fourth, and fifth positions respectively. Forza Horizon 4 is also unmoved at sixth place, though Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has moved up one place to take the seventh spot. Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy also moves up from ninth to eighth place.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy has dropped from seventh place to the ninth position, while Assassin’s Creed Odyssey moves up from eleventh place to take the final spot in the top 10, edging out Spider-Man in the process.

While these charts account only for physical sales of games, as has always been the case, GamesIndustry also reports that digital sales shall soon be included for combined sales charts as well. But while data provider ISFE/B2Boost puts the data together, we will be receiving separate digital and physical charts for a while in the coming weeks.

You can check out the full top 10 below.

The Holiday season has boosted sales for a number of games in the UK this week, as per the latest sales data for physical copies sold of games, provided by Gfk Chart-Track. Though the games in the top 10 this week are the same as last week (with some of them switching around in positions), GamesIndustry reports an increase in sales for many of them.

Red Dead Redemption 2 retains its spot at the top of the perch, with a 26 per cent increase in week-on-week sales, with FIFA 19 trailing close behind, having seen an increase in sale of its own of 45 per cent week-on-week. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s position also remains unchanged this week, coming in at number 3, with the game now having sold over a million copies in the UK.

Thanks to a discount in prices, Battlefield 5 saw a 55 per cent increase in sales, jumping up to fifth place in the charts. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of the few games in the top 10 to see a decrease in sales, falling to 5th place with a 24 per cent week-on-week drop. It has, however, overtaken Splatoon 2 in terms of LTD sales already, with just three weeks on the market, and in the process become the Switch’s fifth highest selling game in the UK.

Spider-Man saw a substantial increase of 62 per cent in sales, and is now the fourth best selling new game released this year in the UK. On the Microsoft side of things, Forza Horizon 4 is also performing strongly, with a 35 per cent increase.

Launch sales are up more than 300 per cent from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

The Gfk Chart-Track charts for physical software sales in UK for the week ending December 8 are in, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has, predictably enough, shot right to the top of the table. But not only is it the highest selling game in the UK for the week (which is something most of us would have predicted anyway, especially given its strong performances even prior to launch), it has also immediately become the fastest selling Super Smash Bros. game of all time, as well as the fastest selling Nintendo Switch game to date.

That means that it’s outpaced the combined launch sales of Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! as well. As GamesIndustry reports, launch sales for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are 302 per cent higher than the sales Super Smash Bros. for Wii U saw at launch, and 233 per cent more than the launch sales for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. Going further back, its launch sales are 62.5 per cent up from those of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. All of this, of course, is only considering physical sales, since Gfk Chart-Track doesn’t track digital downloads, which means that total sales for the game are even higher.

FIFA 19, thanks to the strong performance of Smash, has moved down from its pole position last week, and is now placed on number three, while Red Dead Redemption 2 retains its second spot. Darksiders 3, which debuted at 32 last week, isn’t in the charts at all in its second week on the market, which is cause for concern for the series. Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe saw a 45 per cent week-on-week boost in sales, and shot up from ninth place last week to fifth place this week.

Meanwhile, another new debutant in the list is Just Cause 4, which is placed at number 6. Its launch sales are worse than the launch sales for Just Cause 3, which debuted in third place when it released. Physical sales for Just Cause 4 are down 61.5 per cent from Just Cause 3, which also means that these are the series’ slowest sales in the UK, ever. Once again, though, digital sales are not counted here, so counting those, it may well have outpaced some of its predecessors.

Over the years, the Far Cry franchise – like many Ubisoft open world titles – has seen some stagnation despite strong sales. However, Far Cry 5 has not only received its fair share of critical acclaim but is also the fastest selling title in the series’ history in the UK as per Games Industry International.

As such, the first quarter of the new year is a toss-up in terms of reception for games. Last year’s Nier: Automata, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Persona 5 had very good opening sales for their respective expectations. However, Far Cry 5 is the biggest launch of the year thus far and will likely remain that way for a few more months.

The PS4 version, which accounted for 60 percent of sales, is also the sixth biggest launch of a Ubisoft title in the individual format charts in all of UK history. Keep in mind that these are just retail sales – with digital sales factored in, the actual sales numbers will be higher.

Far Cry 5 is available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Along with DLC packs, there will also be free limited time events that players can partake in, the first starting on April 3rd.

Tomb Raider has topped the UK sales chart for 2013 and has sold double of what Aliens: Colonial Marines could manage.

We had earlier reported that the game had sold 1 million units in less than 2 days and this is a massive achievement for a franchise that was in decline and was rebooted.

The experiment has been successful and the game has been a huge critical and commercial success. Square Enix should be pleased at what Crystal Dynamics have done and Nixxes’ wonderful PC port also needs a word of praise.

The game was reviewed by us as well and we gave it a glowing 9/10 score.

“This reboot has been the best thing that happened to the franchise and I’d say they even earned a new fan. I like this new Lara Croft–backed by incredible production values and a motivated team,” our review read.

SimCity has taken the no. 2 spot, followed by Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Sims 3 expansion pack called The Sims 3: University Life is at no. 4 and FIFA 13 is at no 5.

Dead Space 3 has topped the UK charts for this week and the critical reception of the game was good as well. Our review of the game praised it for the visuals and things, which you can read over here.

Last week’s topper Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has moved down to 6th position and it shouldn’t be a surprise considering new games usually manage to top in the UK, and games like FIFA, Call of Duty and others have long legs.

FIFA 13 comes at no. 2, followed by Black Ops 2. Far Cry 3 and Hitman: HD trilogy has taken the 4th and 5th spot respectively.

We have the top 20 chart for you, and it is surprising to see Forza 4 enter the list.

1. Dead Space 3
2. Fifa 13
3. Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
4. Far Cry 3
5. Hitman: HD Trilogy
6. Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch
7. Need For Speed Most Wanted
8. Just Dance 4
9. Hitman Absolution
10. Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed

The UK Charts for the PS3 for the week ending 15th December are out now, and it looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is still dominating sales, as expected. It’s topped the PS3 sales charts once more.

Hitman: Absolution and FIFA 13 were at #2 and #3 in the standings.

LittleBigPlanet Karting also somehow managed to break into the least, standing at the tenth position.

Here’s the full top 10 for you:

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II – Activision Blizzard
2. Hitman: Absolution – Square Enix
3. FIFA 13 – EA
4. Far Cry 3 – Ubisoft
5. Assassin’s Creed III – Ubisoft
6. Need for Speed: Most Wanted – EA
7. WWE ’13 – THQ
8. Wonderbook: Book of Spells – Sony
9. LEGO The Lord of the Rings – Warner Bros. Interactive
10. LittleBigPlanet Karting – Sony

It’s not really a surprise that Blops 2 has topped the sales, but I didn’t expect FIFA 13 to go behind Hitman.
