Originally released on PS4, PS5 and PC, Bugsnax was eventually ported over to the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch last year. The game has players exploring a mysterious island inhabited by half-bug, half-snack creatures. Characters can eat these creatures to replace parts of their bodies.

Bugsnax also saw an expansion, titled The Isle of BIGsnax, released back in 2022. The expansion was released as a free update to the base game, and will likely be making it to the iOS release on launch. The Isle of BIGsnax involves “supersized Bugsnax”, along with new challenges and decorations.

Bugsnax is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The Isle of Bigsnax expansion is also live on all platforms, taking players to a brand new island biome with larger variants of Bugsnax to capture. You’ll need to use a special substance called Shrink Spice to cut them down to size (along figuring out how to approach certain Bigsnax like the Clawbsteroni who can bounce the substance away).

Environmental puzzles, new activities accessible via the mailbox and a hut that players can decorate with certain items are also included. All in all, there’s about three hours of new content for players to chew through. Stay tuned for details on subsequent updates.

Young Horses recently confirmed that Bugsnax’s large-scale (and free) new expansion, The Isle of Bigsnax, will be launching on April 28. On that same day, the game will also launch for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, while also finally seeing its Steam launch, which was first officially confirmed in August of last year.

Meanwhile, Bugsnax will also be available via Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on the same day- and of course, The Isle of Bigsnax will be available as a free update on all platforms as well.

Bugsnax: The Isle of Bigsnax will launch later this month, on April 28, and in updates published on the PlayStation Blog and Xbox Wire, creative director Kevin Zuhn has also provided more details on what to expect from it. The expansion will add roughly three hours of new content, taking players to the titular Isle of Bigsnax, which is a completely new biome that, according to Zuhn, is twice as large as any of the base game’s biomes.

The new biome will place a greater emphasis on environmental puzzles, while of course, there will also be plenty of new Bugsnax to capture. Some of these, however, will be massive in size- called Bigsnax, these will have to be shrunk down to regular size by using a volatile substance called Shrink Spice (which explodes 30 seconds after you pick it up).

One of the new Bigsnax being introduced in the expansion is Clawbsteroni, a lobster made out of mac and cheese, sees a giant trampoline to bounce the spice away from its head. Meanwhile, other additions and expansions include your very own hut to decorate using things you find in the game, and get new activities to tackle via your mailbox.

Young Horses recently also announced that Bugsnax will be launching for Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles on April 28, the same day The Isle of Bigsnax releases. The expansion will, of course, also be available on those platforms in addition to PS5, PS4, and PC.

In October last year, Young Horses announced what they described as a “supersized” expansion for the game called Bugsnax: The Isle of BIGsnax. Coming as a free update to all owners of the game, it was announced with a 2022 launch window, and taking to Twitter, Young Horses recently confirmed that the expansion’s release date will be shared tomorrow, on April 12.

The Isle of BIGsnax is going to add plenty of new content to the base game, including a new biome, new challenges and quests, new Bugsnax to capture, new decorations, and more. We’ll likely learn more about the expansion when its launch date is announced imminently.

Bugsnax is available on PS5, PS4, and PC. Last year, its developers said they would “love to” bring the game to other platforms, but no announcements have been made on that front yet.

At the recent State of Play, the developer announced Bugsnax: The Isle of BIGsnax. The new expansion will take players to a mysterious new land and meet “supersized Bugsnax”, while there will also be new challenges to complete, decorations to find and personalize your hut with, and even customize your Bugsnax with hats. The expansion is coming out in early 2022, and best of all, it’ll be a free update for everyone who already has the base game. Check out its announcement trailer below.

Bugsnax is available on PS5, PS4, and PC, while there’s also a chance that it ends up coming to other platforms down the line. In 2022, the game will also be releasing for Steam.

Creative director and writer Kevin Zuhn stated that, “We’re buzzing with excitement to serve up Bugsnax to a new audience on Steam! We’ll have some meaty news and a few juicy surprises to get people talkin’ bout Bugsnax again later this year.”

The story for Bugsnax takes place on the mystical Snaktooth Island where various creatures reside. As the name implies, they’re half-bug and half-food item and it’s your job to learn more about their mysterious nature. However, when the explorer Elizabert Megafig is revealed to be missing on your arrival, it becomes a task to hunt down each of the 100 different Bugsnax species and feed the other characters on the island.

Each of the Bugsnax has their own unique properties and you’ll to employ different methods and traps to obtain them. For the various accolades that the title has earned since release, head here.

Last year saw the launch of new generation consoles and alongside that was quite the diverse amount of games both big and small. One of those was Bugsnax, an adventure survival game filled with animals that are food and food that are animals. Or something. It launched alongside Sony’s PS5, but also came to PS4 and now the latest update will let those users transfer upward.

The new update, 1.06, is live now and the big feature it brings is the ability to transfer saves between the PS4 and PS5 versions of the games. If you recall, the PS5 Bugsnax was given away for PS Plus at the launch of the system. So if you redeemed it but have only been able to play the PS4 version, you can now transfer without issue. There’s also various other things here, such additional save protections and some improved gameplay tweaks. You can see the full patch notes below (via Twisted Voxel).

Bugsnax is available now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. While no other platforms have been announced, the developer has said they would love to port it to other systems.

Bugsnax may not have been the most high profile PS5 launch title, but it certainly got its fair share of attention- not only because of its unique and interesting premise, but also because, as it turned out, it was a genuinely fun game. Currently only available on PlayStation and PC, those playing on other platforms have been wondering whether the game could make its way over to other consoles as well. And that’s certainly something the developers would love to do.

Speaking during a recent Reddit AMA, when asked about a potential Nintendo Switch version, the developers said that developer Young Horses “would love” to bring the game to more platforms, but they haven’t yet made any decisions about that either way.

“We have no specific plans right now, but we’d love to bring the game to other platforms,” wrote sound designer Seth Parke.

Programmer Kevin Geisler also chimed in, giving a similar response. He wrote: “We’re hoping to bring Bugsnax to more platforms, but we haven’t decided or announced what those are yet.”

Bugsnax is a game that would fit rather well on the Switch, and I’m sure it would see plenty of success as a Game Pass title if it ever makes its way over to Xbox, so here’s hoping that ends up happening sooner rather than later.

Currently, Bugsnax is available on PS5, PS4, and PC.

Young Horses’ Bugsnax is out in just a few weeks and will be a launch title for the PS5. Sony even announced that it would be included with PlayStation Plus from November till January 4th 2021 (but only for PS5 players). The first-person adventure/horror title will be coming to PS4 and PC on the same day though. Check out the launch trailer below.

Unfortunately, it seems that PS4 to PS5 save transfers won’t be available at launch. The developer is working to add this in a future update but we’ll need to wait for more details on the same. Interestingly enough, there will be separate Trophy lists for both PS5 and PS4 so at the very least, one can accrue double the amount of Trophies.
