Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 has achieved a new sales milestone, selling over five million units to end 2019. The figure was reported by series director Katsuhiro Harada on Twitter. The fighting game first released in arcades back in 2015 for Japan. A worldwide launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC would follow in June 2017.
Amid critical acclaim, Tekken 7 has received a number of updates and new fighters since launch. Currently, Season 3 is ongoing with the likes of Zafina available and Leroy Smith recently joining the roster. Fahkumram and Ganryu, a new character and returning legend respectively, are also on the way.
What’s next for Tekken though, especially since the latest iteration has sold more in shorter period of time than Capcom’s Street Fighter 5? More DLC fighters in the short term, of course, but the future is hard to predict. In the meantime, stay tuned for release dates on upcoming fighters and other quality of life additions, like frame data display.
