While 11 bit studios saw success with Frostpunk 2, available now on PC, its next title, The Alters, has seen delay. It was slated to launch in Q4 2024 but has now been delayed to Q1 2025, per Bankier.pl.
Przemysław Marszał, president of the company’s management board, told the site that its production record was “very tight.” “There was uncertainty about whether developers had enough time to close all the work we all expected. After so many years of production, the risk that the game will have any shortcomings is unnecessary for us.”
The delay isn’t all that surprising – Frostpunk 2 was scheduled for June but saw delay to September for more polish and features (check out our review). The Alters is perhaps even more ambitious, as players control Jan Dolski, stranded on strange planet with a killer sun. To survive, he harnesses the alien materials to create Alters of himself.
These aren’t mere clones but alternate versions of Jan, who develop different skill sets and personalities depending on critical life choices. While you can use their skills to survive, managing their expectations, goals, and quirks is another headache.
The Alters is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It will also launch for Game Pass on day one.
