When Striking Distance Studios announced The Callisto Protocol, fans were thrilled at the prospect of a survival horror game set in the same universe as the massively successful battle royale shooter PUBG. It seems as though things might not have worked out well for these narrative connections, and the developer has now revealed that the two games don’t share the same universe anymore.
CEO of Striking Distance Studios Glen Schofield took to Twitter to reveal this information, explaining that while the game was originally a part of the PUBG universe (set 300 years in the future), it has now grown out into its own world. He said that while there will be some little surprises here and there (seemingly in the name of fanfare), fans shouldn’t expect much in the name of narrative connections and overarching lore.
This revelation isn’t too surprising, since Schofield previously stated in an interview that the connections between the two games wouldn’t be very deep in the first place.
We also recently got to know that The Callisto Protocol might possibly be headed over to PS4 and Xbox One as well- read more on that through here.
