The Division 2: Warlords of New York Features 1:1 Recreation of Lower Manhattan

Famous landmark locations like Chinatown and Wall Street will be familiar.

The future of The Division 2 was revealed yesterday and it wasn’t just a release date for the upcoming Episode 3: Coney Island – The Hunt. Ubisoft Massive announced a large paid expansion, Warlords of New York, that would release on March 3rd. It sees players returning to the city to face Aaron Keener, mowing down his four Warlords that control Lower Manhattan in the process.

While the map should be familiar territory for players of the first game, quite a bit has changed. DualShockers spoke to Ubisoft Leamington/Reflections producer Nick Scurr about whether Lower Manhattan in-game is a 1:1 recreation of the real-life area. And while it most certainly is, things have changed quite a bit.

“It is a 1:1 recreation of that area of Manhattan! So, in Division 1, that was not the case. But when we went to Washington, D.C., we had the goal of doing that so, Washington D.C. was 1:1. And then, of course, coming to Manhattan, with the four main zones we have, they are 1:1 recreations of those areas.

“They might not look quite the same because, obviously, a hurricane swept in and really changed the landscape. But if you’re familiar with those areas in New York City, then you’re going to see famous places like Chinatown, Wall Street, and maybe even the Statue of Liberty off the shore.”

Players will explore four different zones – Two Bridges, Financial District, Battery Park, and Civic Center – to find each of the Warlords. Conducting investigations and cooperating with the Peacekeepers faction will be key, as will mixing it up with the Rikers and Cleaners. Just another day on the job for the Division, essentially.

The Division 2: Warlords of New York costs $30 and will release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. That’s not the end though as the first Season launches the week after, bringing three-month long windows of Global Events, challenges and a Seasonal Manhunt. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
