The Division Update 1.1 Will Guarantee High-End Drops from Named Foes

Ubisoft Massive explains the reason for crafting changes in the upcoming update.

Ubisoft Massive will introduce its first significant update to Tom Clancy’s The Division on April 12th with update 1.1 aka the Incursion “Falcon Lost”. However, it gained a bit of ire recently for its proposed changes to crafting which would yield less materials from deconstructing items and much more materials required for ultimately crafting High-End gear.

Needless to say, players – including yours truly – saw this as terrible change but Massive explained its reasoning in a new post. It essentially explained how it wanted to downplay crafting as one’s main source of loot (a graph showed how most players’ source of High-End level 31 loot was through crafting), presenting it as a last resort of sorts. However, with drop rates the way they were, an alternative had to be presented for receiving High-End loot..

Therefore in the upcoming update, named enemies will now drop guaranteed High-End items with higher levels dropping better loot. Division Tech drop rates have also been increased and named enemies will now have specific loot tables for getting the stuff you want. So even if the cost of High-End crafting will be higher, you’ll come by more materials as a whole anyway. It’s all about playing the game.
