The Elder Scrolls 6 or Skyrim 2: It’s Not In Bethesda’s DNA To Release Yearly Sequels

At least the wait is usually worth it.

Despite the fact that Bethesda has some rather popular series the company hasn’t take advantage of that popularity as well as some people feel it could have by releasing games like Elder Scrolls and the Fallout series every year. Questions have been popping up for years as to just why the firm hasn’t moved quicker on additional games in the series, Bethesda’s Pete Hines recently sat down with the Examiner in order to explain that reasoning.

“It’s not in our DNA. We did Morrowind in 2002 and we could’ve turned around and done another one right away, but we wanted to wait and do a bigger and better thing with Oblivion. We believe in taking time to do the games right so that when they come out they’re special and you pay attention to them.” Hines told the Examiner. He added the firm bellieves one of the reasons their series are so beloved is because they aren’t being released on a yearly basis.

Hines pointed out, waiting for a game like Fallout 4 actually makes it even more attractive when they finally release a game. He did add seven years is a long time between a series game release even for Bethesda. He said the firm simply isn’t set up to be releasing 12 to 18 games a year (neither are most other companies) and the team feels it’s better to be releasing games like another Elder Scrolls or Skyrim every now and then, as opposed to every year. That means it will likely be a decent amount of wait before we see another game in that series.
