The Elder Scrolls 6: Should It Have A Survival Mode?

A la Fallout 4.

Remember Fallout 4‘s survival mode? While it didn’t necessarily handled difficulty upgrades all that well- in that it did it exactly like all other Bethesda games do- some of its ideas were actually pretty neat. How it handled concepts like sleep, hunger, thirst and what have you and how they affect your character and your character’s abilities was quite an interesting concept, especially given how well it fit with the game’s post-apocalyptic setting.

The question now is, should The Elder Scrolls 6 have something like that. And it is actually that could work out quite well. One of the best things in any Elder Scrolls game is the joy of exploration and discovery, just travelling throughout the game world aimlessly and making your own adventure. Given the fact that a survival mode entails having no option to fast travel, we feel this could work pretty well. While the maps in Elder Scrolls games are quite large, they do often offer the joy of exploration, so so maybe having this feature and not being able to fast travel in a potential The Elder Scrolls 6 will work rather well.

That is, of course, not the only reason. Cooking and alchemy were major parts of Skyrim, as they are in every other Elder Scrolls game, so having those things become even more of a focus in a survival mode could work very well. Having your skill and abilities in the areas of cooking and alchemy could determine what kind of potions, food and ability buffs and debuffs you ultimately have access to, making for a much more immersive and ultimately challenging experience. This also means more player agency, and that is a never bad things.
