The Last of Us Part 2 Director Has a New Project in Development, “Too Early to Talk About It”

"Maybe if someone in PlayStation wants to leak it then we could talk about it now. Otherwise, we’ll save it,” says Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann.

After months of rumours, The Last of Us Part 1 was finally announced at the Summer Game Fest showcase. Built from the ground up for PS5, the remake features revamped gameplay and more accessibility options. Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann also revealed that the studio is working on a standalone multiplayer project that is as big as previous games in the series.

But what about Druckmann? What is he currently working on? When asked about the same by host Geoff Keighley, he replied, “Still making games, I haven’t given up my day job. It’s a little early to talk about it. Maybe if someone in PlayStation wants to leak it then we could talk about it now. Otherwise, we’ll save it.” That last part refers to The Last of Us Part 1 leaking on PlayStation Direct before its official reveal.

Druckmann said that while he has a new project in the works, “we’ll save it for another Summer Game Fest.” He also confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2, which first launched in June 2020 for PS4, has sold 10 million units thus far. You can check out our review here.
