Naughty Dog have made a lot of bold statements about the size and scope of The Last of Us Part 2 in the lead-up to the game’s launch. The upcoming action-adventure title is supposed to be the biggest and most ambitious game they’ve ever made (so much so that they had to cut out the multiplayer mode to properly focus on the campaign), while the developers have also said that it’s about 50 per cent longer than the first game. While that gives us a pretty good idea of the rough length of the upcoming sequel, we might now have a much more concrete figure.
GQ recently published a lengthy interview with The Last of Us Part 2 creative director Neil Druckmann, in which they talked about the game’s development over the last two years. In that interview, the site states that the game is about 25-30 hours long. That would make it nearly twice as long as the first game, and would definitely qualify The Last of Us Part 2 as the longest game Naughty Dog have ever made.
In the same interview, Neil Druckmann also talked about what project Naughty Dog could work on next, saying that it could be another The Last of Us game, or maybe even a completely new IP. Read more on that through here.
The Last of Us Part 2 launches exclusively for the PS4 on June 19.
