The Last of Us Part 2 – Sony and Naughty Dog Are Working Hard to Launch the Game “As Soon As Possible”

Let's just hope it's not too far out.

If things had been going well, we’d now be a month and a half away from the much-anticipated release of The Last of Us Part 2, but with the game’s recent delay, there’s no knowing when we’ll finally get our hands on Naughty Dog’s upcoming opus.

While there’s not telling – given the indefinite delay – when the game will come out, it seems Sony and Naughty Dog have their heads down to figure out a way to release the game at the earlier possible. In a recent tweet, the game’s director, Neil Druckmann, said that both parties are “working hard” to make sure that the game launches “as soon as possible.” While that doesn’t really give us an idea of what the new release date will be, we can at least take heart in the fact that the developer and publisher are looking to get the game out the ate at the earliest possible.

Not too long ago, it also came to light that Sony and Naughty Dog are considering an early digital release of the game, while they figure out retail-related logistics for its launch. Read more on that through here. That said, The Last of Us Part 2’s listing was recently taken off the PlayStation Store, while Sony have also started issuing refunds for digital pre-orders.

All we can hope for at this point that the situation improves quickly, and for more reasons that just the release of a game. Thankfully, said game has at least nearly wrapped up development, so at least that won’t be hurdle for Sony. Just don’t go expecting a demo to make up for its delay anytime soon.
