The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 – Nintendo is Reportedly “Excited” About 2022 Launch

Though it's been half a year since we last saw it, it seems Nintendo is still committed to a 2022 launch for the sequel.

That The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel is probably Nintendo’s biggest upcoming game for 2022 is a bit of an understatement, but given the fact that we didn’t see anything new from the game or get any updates at The Game Awards earlier this month has raised questions for some about whether that means the highly-anticipated sequel might not launch as intended.

It seems, however, that there’s no reason to be worried just yet. At least according to IGN’s long-time editor-in-chief Peer Schneider, who recently said in a recent podcast that Breath of the Wild 2 not being at The Game Awards isn’t indication of the game getting delayed, and that it’s still targeting a 2022 launch. Schneider says Nintendo is “very excited about 2022”- which makes sense, when you consider the lineup of games scheduled for 2022.

Other than the sequel to Breath of the Wild, several major Switch exclusives are currently scheduled for 2022, including the likes of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-boot Camp, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Triangle Strategy, Chocobo GP, and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

As for Breath of the Wild 2, a recent report claimed that the next time we see the game will probably be at E3 2022, with the game probably not launching until at least late in the year, if not later. Recently filed Nintendo patents may also have revealed new gameplay details on it- read more on that through here.
