The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Tops UK Physical Sales Charts on Debut

The sequel beat Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in revenue for the year and boosted Breath of the Wild's sales by 31 percent.

Following up on the news that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the biggest physical game launch in the UK of 2023, Gfk revealed that it topped sales charts for the week ending May 13th. Also, while its unit sales are 12 percent lower than Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it’s eight percent higher in revenue.

This is due to the Collector’s Edition, which costs £129.99 and contributed to revenue. If that weren’t enough, Tears of the Kingdom boosted physical sales for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by 31 percent, bringing it to eighth place on the charts.

Previous chart-topping title Hogwarts Legacy dropped to second place, with sales dropping by 68 percent week-on-week, per GamesIndustry. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor fell to third place as sales dropped by 50 percent. Dead Island 2 went from third to sixth place as sales dropped 51 percent.
