Another major delay has been announced, this time for Daedalic Entertainment’s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The action adventure title was slated to release this year but has been delayed to 2022. In a press release, Daedalic announced that it was working with Nacon to co-publish and distribute the title.
While a reason for the delay wasn’t provided, the partnership will help ensure that the title meets “the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles.” Announced in 2019, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum focuses on Gollum as he pursues the One Ring. The story is set after the ring’s loss and before The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Along with stealth and climbing, players will also have to manage Gollum’s split personality. Various dialogue choices allow one to either listen to the remnants of Smeagol or embrace Gollum’s more twisted nature. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
