The Sims 4 is Currently Free for PC via Origin

The Standard Edition can be claimed at no cost until May 28th.

The season of free games continues. Stories Untold is free on the Epic Games Store, while GRID 2 is free on Steam (likely due to the announcement of the GRID reboot). So of course, Electronic Arts is getting in on the action as well, by making Maxis’s The Sims 4 free on Origin until May 28th. This is only the Standard Edition though, which doesn’t have any DLC.

While the game received mixed impressions from long-time fans, it’s seen a number of updates that improved it dramatically. New Sim types, new careers, Star Wars costumes, new worlds with new neighborhoods, and even first person camera have been added for free. And there’s still more to come- even though The Sims 4 has been around for almost five years, 20 new content drops and expansions are planned for 2019.

Make sure to claim the game by going to the Origin website and logging in (the Origin client only seems to allow gifting). Add it to your wishlist as well if that’s not enough. The Sims 4 is also available as part of Origin Access Basic, while the Deluxe Edition is part of Premier. You can also pick up the game on Xbox One and PS4 (though there’s no free offer on those platforms, currently).
