The Witcher 3 and CyberPunk Developers Speak Out On The Realities of Working at CDPR

It sounds like things really are chaotic at the studio...

Twice now, CD Projekt RED, the studio that brought us the incredible The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and is currently working on the hugely anticipate CyberPunk 2077, has been rocked by allegations of providing a poor work environment for its developers, with poor communication, micromanagement, and incessant crunch times.

CD Projekt RED, notably, responded to these allegations last month, but it is interesting to note that they did not deny any of them- they just said that game development at CDPR is intense. Now, in a video by YouTuber Madqueen Show, developers at the Polish studio have spoken about the development and working conditions at CDPR, talking about year-long crunch times, poor middle management, poor communication, low morale, and a general lack of organization. Some of have stated that things, however, have generally gotten better since The Witcher 3; others say they have gotten worse. Some have also stated that in spite of all the chaos, CD Projekt RED is like a dream job for them.

Finally, it sounds like development on CyberPunk is progressing as expected, with progress being made every day. The video does not cast any light on when we might expect the game, however. You can check it out for yourself below- all I can hope is that a developer like CDPR eventually manages to stabilize and reach a better development workflow that is easier on its personnel.
