After having released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the excellent conclusion to Geralt of Rivia’s story, earlier this year, CD Projekt RED are now hard at work on their mysterious new game, CyberPunk 2077. The game is shrouded completely in mystery, and not a whole lot is known about it. Still, in a rare interview to Polish media, CD Projekt Red joint CEO Adam Kicinski discussed the game, mentioning that it is turning out to be even more ambitious than what the development team originally had in mind.
“The project is even more ambitious than we first planned… we need to create a game that will be even more successful,” he said on Polish TV station TVN24 BiS (translation by Gamepressure). “We have a long way ahead of us to reach the biggest commercial successes in the world.”
Kicinski is referring here to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- the game launched to rave reviews, and multiple Game of the Year awards, but it has sold only 6 million copies- to contrast this with the far less well received Fallout 4, which shipped double that in one day. It’s clear CD Projekt RED want to aim even higher with CyberPunk.
