The Witcher 3 Developer Rumored To Be In Talks With Electronic Arts

Take these rumors with a massive mound of salt.

It wasn’t that long ago that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developers said they would let us know their future plans in the coming months. It turns out that those plans might have just been leaked by a purported CD Projekt RED employee. This employee recently spoke to DSO Gaming and told them that the company is in talks with Electronic Arts to either work out a publishing deal or possibly sell the company outright.

DSO Gaming has apparently confirmed that the person works or worked for CD Projekt RED through a paystub, but it should be pointed out that the rest of the information appears to be nothing more than unsubstantiated claims by this worker. If they are true, it appears that EA might be looking to purchase the development company, which would certainly make sense for them in a business sense, considering how successful The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been since it was launched.

The other rumor, which also hasn’t been confirmed by anyone from either company is that the two firms might be working out a joint partnership on an upcoming game. Not only did CD Projekt RED not confirm they are in talks with EA but Marcin Momot was flat out asked about a publishing deal with Electronic Arts on Twitter. He responded that he just talked to the company’s founder and that Marcin Iwinski said it was “news to him.” It’s of course possible that all parties involved are keeping things under wraps until the deal is finished. We’ll likely here more about this kind of smoke of there is indeed a fire.
