The Witcher dev urges game companies to put fans before profit

"When companies put profit before fans, they create something that’s an empty shell."

CD Projekt Red are really good at giving lecture it seems, even though it is of the good variety. What they say makes sense but as they say actions speak louder than words and they really shouldn’t have gone after those pirates via ISP tracking.

Still, one developer from the studio says that he is saddened at the fact plenty of game studios put profit before what their fans want.

“For me, the number one aim when making a game is to connect with fans,” said lead animator Tomasz Zawada told FMV.

“When companies put profit before fans, they create something that’s an empty shell. You look at it from the outside, and it looks visually awesome and everything is polished, but when you look further into it there’s something lacking inside.

“When you do something from the heart, you put a lot of emotions into it. And even if you can’t polish it the same amount, it still has soul.”

These guys make some good games and also do some good work when it comes to releasing DRM free games and what not. However, they still have done something wrong for which they apologised. Other than that they’re awesome and speak the right thing.
