2K’s long-dormant tennis sim series is set to return later this month with TopSpin 2K25, and from its roster of playable pros to the modes and venues it’ll have on offer, it’s looking like it’s going to be quite a full-featured return to the limelight for the franchise. There will, however, be some exceptions to the things it’ll feature at launch- such as online doubles.
Speaking in a recent interview with Wccftech, game director Remi Ercolani confirmed that at launch, those who want to play in doubles matches with other players online won’t have the option to do so. However, as per Ercolani, developer Hangar 13 will be looking to offer more options to players with post-launch additions and updates, so hopefully online doubles will be added at some point down the line.
“TopSpin 2K25 won’t support online doubles at launch, but we’re hoping to offer more options in the future,” Ercolani said. “Each mode will have its own specificities and unique features to keep players motivated to return and play daily, and all ranked modes will have leaderboards for fans to keep an eye on the competition.”
It’s also been confirmed that TopSpin 2K25 will run at 60 FPS during gameplay in both offline and online modes on all platforms. Read more on that through here.
TopSpin 2K25 launches on April 26 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
