Far Cry 4, the new entry in Ubisoft’s first person shooter series, is coming out later this year, and it does look amazing, but of course, there are some misgivings and doubts about it- when you consider that this game comes just two years after Far Cry 3, you do begin to wonder if this isn’t just a glorified Far Cry 3.5, an expansion being billed at a sequel.
In a candid statement, Ubisoft admitted that for a while, they did in fact consider just doing a Far Cry 3.5.
“We definitely had the option of making a 3.5, of making a choice to just stay in the same location with the same characters,” producer Dan Hay said in a post on the UbiBlog. “We talked about the idea of taking Jason’s story and growing it, maybe figuring out a way to bring Vaas back. And very quickly we realized that it wasn’t going to be a thing that we wanted to do. So we stopped that conversation and said, that’s the end of the 3.5 conversation–which lasted probably about four days.”
Well, it’s good to see that they decided to go the route they did, as Far Cry 4 looks extremely ambitious and amazing.
