After teasing new adventure, Owlcat Games of Pathfinder fame has announced Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. It’s coming to consoles and PC, though a release window wasn’t confirmed. Founder’s Packs are currently available to pre-order on PC which provides access to a beta.
As a Rogue Trader, the CRPG sees the player exploring the Imperial space with the Warrant of Trade providing numerous benefits. Starting in the Koronus Expanse, they’ll eventually explore the Agri-Worlds and Forge Worlds for the sake of claiming them for the merchant empire. You’ll meet Imperium foes, Xenos and Chaos cults along with potential allies from an armored Space Marine to a Sister of Battle and Aeldari Ranger.
Combat is turn-based and various decisions can impact the “lives of entire worlds.” Studio head Oleg Shpilchevsky said in a press release, “We’re really excited to open a new chapter in Owlcat Games history. Working on such a remarkable universe as Warhammer 40,000 is a great honor but also a responsibility and challenge for us as a team.
“The grim darkness of the 41st millennium is a harsh place of unbound evil, untold sacrifices and large-scale threats and challenges that perfectly transitions into an exciting role-playing narrative that allows an exceptional freedom of in-game choice for the player. We endeavor to bring to the game everything that fans of the CRPG genre love and expect: fateful decisions, non-linear stories, strong and diverse companion cast together with addictive and complex gaming systems to master.”
