Watch Dogs Finally Goes Gold

In development since 2009, Ubisoft's newest open world adventure is ready to ship.

Ubisoft Montreal’s open world hacking adventure Watch Dogs has finally gone gold. After being in development for more than five years, facing delays and controversies regarding its visuals being downgraded, the game is finally ready to send for manufacturing and distribution.

Creative director Jonathan Morin stated on the UbiBlog that, “It’s exciting to be gold, but it’ll be more exciting when people are playing. For the fans it means that it’s true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it’s not done until they actually have it in their hands.”

Watch Dogs has been hyped heavily since its initial reveal at E3 2012 and was slated to release in November 2013 alongside the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One. The game was however delayed to early 2014 and will now be releasing on May 27th for Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and PC. The Wii U version will be out later this year.
