Watch Dogs Legion’s Creative Director Talks London Setting

London calling with the far away sounds.

Watch Dogs Legions is prepping to be one of the most ambitious games in quite some time. It promises world where you can recruit any NPC as you battle against a fascist regime who has basically taken over London. Whether or not the gameplay can live up to that is a big question, but another notable thing is its location. We haven’t seen a lot of modern (or near modern, rather) versions of London in games. Creative Director Clint Hocking talked about the research that went into the unique setting.

In an interview with Twinfinite, Hocking discussed various aspects of the game, and when he talked about the game’s setting, he broke down how much time and research went into the team’s scouting. He also said it was interesting to go into a culture both familiar, but also very different, to the one he knew.

“Because it’s farther away and harder to get to… you know we send a lot of people over there to research and I myself spent about 18 days on a research trip,” he said. “We also had behind closed doors access to locations like the Bank of England and all of these places and it was amazing.

“We learned a ton of stuff but it is hard because you have to watch all of the television shows and read the books. We have our own culture in NA, right? So, going there and also having to understand the culture of London and their sense of humor and all that kind of stuff.”

Watch Dogs Legion will release March 6, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. To make the wait a little easier, check out some details you’ll need to know about the game before it comes out.
