Watch Dogs: Ubisoft Considered Real Life Hackers’ Lives To Build Aiden’s Personality

Cinematic animation lead Lars Bonde talks research and interactions with "specialists".

For the upcoming open world action adventure hacking title Watch_Dogs, Ubisoft Montreal has looked at real life hackers and “specialists” for creating protagonist Aiden Pearce.

When asked if any hackers were interviewed as groundwork for Pearce, Cinematic animation lead Lars Bonde (with lead gameplay programmer Eric Baillargeon) stated to OXM that, “There has been something like that. Not directly from us, but there has been research as befits our main character. There have been some “specialists” we’ve looked at, depending on what life they’ve lived – there’s a specialist I’m using over in Montreal that is used to certain “types” of living.

“We investigated the subject with him, and I had our art lead work with him to work out the kind of life he’s led, and give our actors some inspiration.”

So in case you’re worried that the game won’t have that authentic “hacker” feel, you can put those highly specific fears to rest. Watch_Dogs is set to release on November 19th in North America for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC, with Xbox One and PS4 versions slated for the end of the year.
