World War Z Has Sold Over 1 Million Copies Within A Week

It looks like zombies never go out of style.

World War Z has gotten off to an excellent start for developers Saber Interactive and publishers Focus Home Interactive. It debuted on top of UK charts for the week, but it seems it’s performed just as well across the globe, with the devs and publishers announcing today that since its launch on April 16, the co-op zombie shooter has managed to sell more than a million copies worldwide.

Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch also confirmed that World War Z’s sales have been surprisingly impressive even outside of the US, while the fact that the game is available exclusively on the Epic Games Store on PC also hasn’t affected its sales. Meanwhile, since its launch, World War Z has also been able to hit a concurrent player count peak of 70,000 players across all platforms.

“Overall the U.S. and EU have been equally strong in sales,” said Karch. “We have had 70,000 people playing at once across all platforms, with very similar distribution among PC (Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox. What surprises us is the fact that sales outside of the US on the Epic Store have been so strong, with the US being only one quarter of sales.”

World War Z is currently available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’re on the fence about whether or not you should get the game, check out its recent gameplay overview trailer through here.
