With the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield on our minds, RPG fans obviously have plenty of AAA megatons to talk about right now, but there’s some real potential gems coming from the industry’s indie side as well. Mega Cat Studio’s retro-inspired wrestling RPG WrestleQuest has been on many radars for a while now, though as it turns out, it’s been hit with an unexpected delay right at the time of its launch.
Originally set to release today, publisher Skybound Games recently announced on Twitter that WrestleQuest has been pushed back to a bit later in the month, until August 22. Apparently, a code that can cause players to lose their save progress was discovered “in the final checks” prior to launch “on multiple different devices”, leading to the last-minute delay.
“Because this is a game filled with hours of content and player progress is so important, we could never bodyslam our fans like that,” the announcement message reads. “We are truly proud of this game and believe that we have a product that delivers on all counts.”
When WrestleQuest does release later this month, it will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Android. For more details on the game, make sure to check out our recent interview with Mega Cat Studios founder James Deighan.
