It was recently announced that cross-play functionality would be coming to Fortnite’s battle royale mode, something that was met with great reception by the game’s vast community. There was one blemish on the announcement though- that cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One still wouldn’t be possible. Xbox boss Phil Spencer seems to want that to change as much as we do though.
When a fan on Twitter sent him a tweet saying that people really want cross-play for Fortnite between the PS4 and the Xbox One, Spencer responded by simple saying “Me too”. Sony’s stance on cross-play has been met with quite a lot of criticism in the past, while Microsoft has publicly been advocating that the same be made possible, and this seems to be continuing that trend.
Spencer, however, posted another interesting message on his official Twitter account. When one fan told him that if Microsoft were to get exclusive marketing rights for Call of Duty, they’d be a lot more open to purchasing an Xbox One X, Spencer replied by saying that something like that shouldn’t matter. He stated that while Microsoft does indeed pay for marketing deals every now and then, users should instead be purchasing consoles based on what games they can play on it and how well they play. That’s definitely a very positive message.
