Xbox executive Larry Hryb has announced his departure from the company. Hryb, who was better known to the Xbox community as “Major Nelson”, was part of the Xbox team at Microsoft for 22 years, and served as its Director of Programming.
Hryb announced his departure in a recent Twitter post, where he confirmed that he has decided to “work on the next chapter” of his career.
“After 20 incredible years, I have decided to take a step back and work on the next chapter of my career,” Hryb wrote on Twitter. “As I take a moment and think about all we have done together, I want to thank the millions of gamers around the world who have included me as part of their lives.
“Also, thanks to Xbox team members for trusting me to have a direct dialogue with our customers. The future is bright for Xbox and as a gamer, I am excited to see the evolution.”
Though Hryb has not offered any details on where he will be working next, he did allude to the next step in his career in another follow-up tweet after announcing his departure from Xbox, saying, “Thank you for joining me on my journey. It’s not over. So don’t go away. We have so much more to do!”
