Xbox Game Studios’ “Main Mission Is To Support Game Pass” – Microsoft Exec

"The goal with these studios is to provide content for Game Pass," says Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty.

It’s clear that Microsoft is putting its all into the subscription service model of Xbox Game Pass, which has quickly become central to their business strategy and push in the industry. Their ambitions to support it with content have become clear to see of late, and the fact that they keep acquiring new studios to add to their ever-growing Xbox Game Studios lineup only spells exciting things for where Game Pass is going to be from here.

In fact, as per Microsoft, their main goal with all their new studios is just that- to support Game Pass with more new content. Speaking with GameSpot, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty was posed the question of what Microsoft’s response would be if ever one of their studios came to them with the idea of a multiplatform title, and Booty responded by saying that though it’s something they’d have to judge on a case-by-case basis, after all is said and done, the main goal for all of Microsoft’s first parties is to provide new content for Xbox Game Pass.

“I think we would first of all look at everything on a case by case basis,” said Booty, answering the aforementioned question. “It is, to be clear, the goal with these studios is to provide content for Game Pass and to provide support for all the new things that we talked about today. Everything from Mixer to Xbox live gold to Xbox… we’ve got the Game Pass Ultimate with streaming and everything.”

“Our job as first-party is really to be there first with all of that,” he continued. “At the same time we have a great relationship with Nintendo, a great relationship with Sony, and if it made sense I don’t want to rule that out but to be clear, our main mission is going to support Game Pass.”

The way Microsoft have been pushing Game Pass more and more with each passing day, that’s not surprising to hear. Not only did they recently announce Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, they also launched the subscription service for PC. Read more on that through here.
