The Xbox One was outsold by the PlayStation 4 by 2:1 in the latest NPD report, but that hasn’t deterred Microsoft from touting its latest victory. On Xbox Wire, the company stated that the Xbox One managed to more than double the Xbox 360’s sales for January 2014 with both consoles selling 2.27 million units.
This meant a 47 percent share of the software market, with at least five of the top best selling games for the month being available on Xbox. Microsoft also doled out other stats, including 2.7 games being purchased per Xbox One on average, a global Gamerscore of 2.6 billion, 165 million Achievements and 130 million DVR clips.
Despite both the PS4 and Xbox One driving up hardware sales in the United States, software sales saw a 21 percent dip in January due to the lack of any high profile releases. The PS4 managed to become the highest selling console in the US for January but Microsoft claims that cumulative sales of the Xbox console make it the highest selling. Stay tuned for more.
