Xbox Series X – New Chip Picture Points To 8K Target

A new photo raises some eyebrows.

The next generation of consoles is upon us and will see releases this Holiday season. Microsoft has jumped ahead of the competition, showing their next console, the Xbox Series X (or really just the Xbox). There’s mix of speculation and actual released material about both consoles, and today some of the former gets something with a mysterious new picture.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer recently changed his Twitter profile picture to a picture of what is presumably the next gen console’s main processor chip. It reads Project Scarlett (the codename we knew the system by before a name was officially revealed), as well as “8K.”

While 4K is still budding, 8K is another resolution a step ahead of even that. It’ll probably be several years before 8K TVs are even sold at a mass market level, nor is it clear if this picture change is meant to be taken seriously about the system’s capabilities or is more of a cheeky flex. Only time will tell, I suppose.
